Ask yourself: What does self-care look like to me right now?
Is it:

10 minutes of quiet before the house wakes up?
Saying no to one more obligation?
Journaling, walking, or dancing it out?

Whatever it is—honor it. Your version of self-care is valid and necessary.

Helping your child or teen identify their emotions is a powerful step toward emotional wellness. Try asking:

“What was the best part of your day?”
“Was there a moment today that made you feel frustrated, anxious, or proud?”

Naming feelings without shame can help your child feel seen and understood—and it opens the door to deeper conversations.

Practice active listening without judgment.
When your teen opens up, try not to jump in with advice or corrections. Instead, focus on really hearing them out. Repeat back what you heard to show you understand, and ask open-ended questions like, “How did that make you feel?”

This builds trust and shows them their thoughts and feelings matter.
