Detroit Yoga Lab

Detroit Yoga Lab Detroit Yoga Lab was the first yoga studio to open in Detroit in 2012. We hope you'll come see for yourself. The room pulses and breathes.

Detroit Yoga Lab is a modern, minimalist sanctuary offering intentional yoga & pilates rooted in breath, meditation, and whole-body awareness—enhanced by the healing power of infrared heat. Since opening, we’ve been told in many different ways that Detroit Yoga Lab is the most welcoming, best designed and supercharged yoga studio in Detroit, and that there’s just no other place like it. Our studen

ts have also claimed that their experiences in being part of this amazing community have changed their lives, bodies and hearts for the better. We are so humbled by the inclusiveness, connectivity and determination that has sprouted in this space over the past three years and hope you will come join us. We offer more than 30 classes a week, from heated vinyasa to candle light yin, and everything in between. The air is sort of electric. And most importantly, there is a real feeling of community that pervades this studio and makes students want to return, because we see the beauty in everyone! Our teachers are friendly, accessible for questions and are consistently participating in ongoing education and training so they can in turn provide the most knowledgeable classes about how to move safe, build strength, increase flexibility and release stress through yoga. To us, yoga is a practice that helps us all be our best, not a practice to make us all look the same, so we hope you’ll come share you so we can help you be YOUR BEST!

The six principles of Pilates aren’t about performing perfectly. They are about coming home to your body.

Breath.
Concentration.
Control.
Centering.
Precision.
Flow.

Not to “get it right,” but to feel what’s happening from the inside. To notice your nervous system, not override it. To move in a way that supports you, wherever you’re at today.

Every body is welcome here.
Every pace is valid.
This is practice, not performance.

Hatha Yoga here is simple, but intentional.

We slow things down so you can actually feel what you’re doing—how you’re moving, where you’re working, and what your body is asking for. Instead of rushing through shapes, we give you time to understand them.

It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing things with clarity. And that shift tends to change everything—not just in your practice, but in how you move through your day.

Coming to the schedule weekly starting April 25th, every Saturday at 10am with Dana Johnson.

Caring for your mental health isn’t a single path or a task to be completed—it’s a collection of gentle practices that help us return to balance, again and again. To meet ourselves with presence, patience and care. As we move into Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re creating space for exactly that.

✨ The Healing Power of Rest: Yoga Nidra for Mindful Wellbeing with Rebecca Murawski
Friday, May 8 | 7–8:30 PM

Yoga Nidra—often called “yogic sleep”, is a gentle, fully guided meditation that invites the body into profound rest while the mind softly lingers in awareness. It’s a place where tension unwinds, the nervous system settles and stillness becomes medicine.

You may leave feeling:
• deeply relaxed and grounded
• lighter, with less stress held in the body
• more rested, inside & out
• reconnected to a sense of calm

Come as you are & allow yourself to be held — in rest.

Rebecca Murawski brings over 13 years of experience to her teaching, creating a space where yoga becomes more than movement—it becomes a place to explore, reflect, and reconnect. Her classes are thoughtful and intuitive, offering both challenge + support as you move through your practice.

As lead yoga instructor at Detroit Yoga Lab, Rebecca fosters an inclusive environment where you’re invited to show up exactly as you are. Her guidance encourages you to listen inward, move with intention, and stay curious along the way. ✨

Practice with Rebecca:
• Mondays 5:30pm — Yin + Flow
• Sundays 8:30am — Slow Flow + Sound Bath

Plus, join her and Dana Johnson for their upcoming yoga immersion, Rooted: Exploring and Expanding the Depths of Your Yoga Practice on April 17 + 18. This special weekend is an opportunity to hone into your foundation, deepen your understanding and grow your yoga practice from the inside out.

✨ Support Accessible Practice ✨

At Detroit Yoga Lab, we believe yoga should be accessible to everyone — regardless of financial circumstances. Our Open Arms Fund exists to help make that possible.

If you feel called to support, here are two ways to give:

Join our donation-based class: ✨ Mid Week Move + Meditate
Wednesdays at 12:15 PM

Give directly 💫 You can also make an individual donation at any time—big or small, it all makes a difference.

Your support helps create space for more people to move, breathe, and belong. No questions asked. Movement heals and community nurtures. If you need support today, or know someone that needs it, our Open Arms form is located in our bio 🧡

As the earth softens and begins to bloom again, you’re invited to do the same. This is a space to gently awaken your energy, to breathe deeper, and to return to yourself through the practice of kundalini and the medicine of sound.

Let the vibrations move through you, clearing what’s been heavy and making room for what’s ready to grow.

✨ Rest As Practice with Kat Sisler ✨

Join Kat on Friday, April 3rd at 7pm for Rest As Practice: A Monthly Restorative Series. These evenings are designed to help you step out of the constant go-go-go and into a more intentional, grounded space.

📅 First Fridays, 7:00–8:30 PM
April 3 • May 1 • June 5

Kat teaches from the belief that yoga is about so much more than movement—it’s about how we live, breathe, and relate to ourselves and the world around us. She completed her training with Dharma Yoga in Austin in 2014, with a focus on mindfulness and Buddhist philosophy, and has since taught in Austin, Atlanta, and Cincinnati.

Her teaching is shaped not only by years of experience and advanced trainings in yin, prenatal yoga, and meditation, but also by her own lived experience navigating cancer treatment and recovery. That chapter deepened her trust in the body’s wisdom and her commitment to slowing down, listening, and moving with care.

Kat’s classes are thoughtful and welcoming. She encourages curiosity over perfection, offering options and reminding students that how something feels matters more than how it looks. She often weaves in stories and bits of philosophy, giving you something to sit with long after class ends.

In a world that constantly pulls at our attention, Kat believes choosing calm is a quiet kind of resistance. This series is an invitation to practice that—together.
