There are moments when quiet matters most.

A soft light. A comfortable space. A place where you can sit, reflect, and simply be.

At our DeWitt Chapel, we are mindful of the small details that help create a sense of calm during difficult times. These quiet spaces are here for families to gather, to pause, and to find a moment of peace when it is needed most.

In times of loss, even the simplest comforts can make a difference.

This Easter season, we are reminded of the quiet ways renewal finds us.

Here in our DeWitt community, we see that renewal in the connections we share, the traditions we carry forward, and the care we offer one another.

Wishing you a peaceful and comforting Easter season.

In life, our instinct is often to turn away from pain... to avoid it, push it aside, or hope it passes quickly.

But those who have walked through loss often discover something different.

They find that healing doesn’t come from avoiding grief… but from gently allowing it. From sitting with it. From being supported through it.

As one caregiver shared, even in the most difficult moments, people often discover strength, compassion, and connection they didn’t know they had.

In a community like ours, no one has to walk that path alone.

We are always here... to listen, to support, and to walk alongside you.

April is Autism Awareness Month.

April, and every month, is a time to lead with understanding, practice patience, and celebrate the ways each person experiences the world.

In our work, we are reminded every day of the importance of compassion, understanding, and meeting people where they are. Those same values guide how we support individuals and families of all abilities.

This month, we recognize and honor the unique perspectives and strengths of those on the autism spectrum, and the importance of fostering kindness and inclusion in our communities.

Grief can be very difficult on the body. If you're finding that you're physically responding to grief as well as mentally and emotionally, GriefShare has some great tips on how to cope.

“I started feeling this intense physical pain. My chest was hurting; my abdomen was hurting. I couldn’t eat,” shares Malika, Loss of a Spouse Participant.

Stomachaches, heart palpitations, physical weakness, increasing aches and pains, and much more can occur in grief - because grief greatly stresses your body. As you grieve, caring for your body can help ease some of the physical stress.

Consider these recommended tips:

- Try to get proper nutrition by eating three meals and light snacks throughout the day and avoid overeating.
- Be sure to drink enough water (6-8 glasses). It’s easy to let the whole day slip by without enough hydration, but filling a 48-ounce cup in the morning and drinking it throughout the day can help.
- Try to get enough sleep (8 hours per night). In addition, when you can, lie down 2-3 times a day for 20-30 minutes, even if you don’t sleep.
- Try to take a 10- to 20-minute walk each day, depending on your level of fitness. You might try other types of exercise, such as biking, swimming, or pickleball.
- Set reminders to take prescription medications.
- For new pains or other symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor.

In our community, we look out for one another... and that includes planning ahead.

Prepaid cremation is one way to make things easier for your family when they need it most. By making arrangements in advance, you can:

• Remove difficult decisions during an emotional time
• Take care of financial details ahead of time
• Ensure your wishes are clearly understood
• Protect against rising costs
• Provide lasting peace of mind

It’s a simple step that can make a lasting difference.

If you’d like to learn more, we’re always here to help. Contact us today to set up an appointment with our prearrangement counselor, Whitney Yates.

There is something about spring in Michigan.

The air softens. The days grow longer. Gathering outdoors begins to feel possible again.

For families planning a celebration of life, an outdoor setting can offer comfort and renewal, whether that is along a lakeshore, in a backyard, on a wooded trail, or at a favorite park.

Some families choose to:

• Release paper boats or lanterns with personal messages
• Spend time on the water in honor of someone who loved it
• Take a quiet walk and plant a tree
• Share a picnic filled with memories

However you choose to gather, it should feel personal and meaningful. We are here to help you create something that honors your loved one in every season.
