Here are the online bidding basics! We do recommend that you register for online bidding BEFORE the sale begins on Saturday, so that you have our undivided attention should you run into any difficulty and need to contact us. This is a long read, but will be helpful to first time online bidders!
๐ฅ The live webcast and online bidding takes place at https://dennishorsesales.hibid.com. BELOW the horse sale listing, in the middle of the screen you will see "Register To Bid" with an auction gavel. Click there to register. DO NOT use the Login/New Bidder option at the top of the page if you have never registered with Hibid before and you are registering initially. That option up top is what you will use to return to the site and log in AFTER you have registered.
๐ฅFollow the prompts. If you have previously registered with hibid for ANY other auction hosted on hibid, you will use your existing login then complete registration. If not, select "New Bidder? Click Here" and add your information as requested.
๐ฅYou will need to use a credit/debit card to register. On occasion, the system may not accept a certain card (for no apparent reason), should that happen, try registering with an alternative card, even if it is one you do not wish to use. You then need to send us an email to let us know you will be using a different card. Your registered card WILL NOT automatically be charged. We will touch base with all winning bidders prior to processing payment. If that absolutely won't work and you cannot get registered, please text/call with your email address to 1-229-308-3660 so we can get you registered on our end. You MUST do that prior to the start of the sale!
๐ฅYou will receive an email confirming your successful registration. That is confirmation that you are good to go! Please reply to the email with your three digit code on the back of your card as that information is not provided to us.
๐ฅ The webcast will go live at 3pm CST on Saturday. We strongly recommend using a hard wired computer rather than a mobile device or WiFi for best viewing/participation although the webcast will play on most smart phones. You will have audio and video and be able to bid along with those present in real time. There is a chat box for questions to the auctioneer for your use. Remember that this is a live auction so things do move at a fairly brisk pace! The feed comes up automatically muted on some devices so if you have video but no sound, find the speaker icon on your video feed and click it to unmute.
๐ฅAbsentee bidding via internet prebidding is available to you. This is useful if you know you will not be in service during the auction to participate in the webcast. To use prebidding, you will select your maximum bid. When that animal enters the ring, the computer will then proxy bid for you as needed by increments up to your maximum amount if needed. The computer will only bid as necessary to keep you the winning bidder (ebay style!)
๐ฅPlease remember that your internet bid is a legally binding agreement, just as if you were bidding in person. When you bid, you are acknowledging your agreement to pay that bid amount.
There are NO bid retractions. If you are the winning bidder someone from the office will call you immediately to collect payment or discuss payment options. Please make sure you read all terms and conditions of the sale.
