Chiricahua Community Health Centers was delighted to host a leadership delegation from Arizona Community Foundation to our Bisbee and Douglas facilities! First stop was the soon to be announced “Freeport McMoRan Training Center” where the state-of-the-art new technologies are now being utilized in the historic 1905 building. Next stop was Douglas, and Chiricahua’s emerging “primary care campus” on F Ave where we toured the Ginger Ryan Clinic. Here, “whole person care” is fully practiced with medical, dental and behavioral health services all being offered – each with integrated vaccine access as well as radiology, lab and nutrition counseling. Across the street, Chiricahua’s Douglas Pharmacy and Acute Care centers are co-located making the 1100 Block of F Ave and one-stop-shop for community residents! Thank You to the team from Arizona Community Foundation for coming to see the Chiricahua magic happen!

Arizona Public Media and local affiliate Arizona Public Media AZPM, reported on the realities of rural health care in Cochise County in a feature story highlighting Chiricahua Community Health Centers and the experiences of Dr. Darlene Melk, Chiricahua's Chilef Medical Officer. The article sheds light on the complex challenges that rural communities face and the dedication of Chiricahua health care providers working to serve those communities every day.
We are grateful to Arizona Public Media and Reporter L.M Boyd for helping bring attention to the importance of rural health care and the experiences of patients and providers in our region.

Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on the deeper roots of community health and justice.

During the Civil Rights Movement, the first Federally Qualified Health Centers grew out of the work being done in Mound Bayou Mississippi, where leaders recognized that access to healthcare is inseparable from dignity, equity, and opportunity. Health care was not a privilege. It was a civil right.

That belief continues to guide our work today.

At Chiricahua, we exist to serve our communities with compassion, respect, and a commitment to health for all. Every patient encounter is part of a larger story that began with the conviction that justice includes caring for one another, especially those most often left behind.

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor the legacy of those who fought for equality by continuing the work. Building healthier communities. Removing barriers to care. And standing firm in the belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for.
