Palentines + celebrating excellence in dietetics 💌✨
We gathered for CAND’s Palentines + Reward Recognition! We had the honor of recognizing:
🏆 Outstanding Dietetic Student – Chris Walsh (nominated twice 👏)
Chris has gone above and beyond throughout the UTC Nutrition & Dietetics graduate program — from clinical excellence during his fall rotations, to volunteering with MobileMocs, contributing to research, and actively serving the UTC community. His initiative, curiosity, and commitment to meaningful patient care truly set him apart. The future RD world is lucky to have him.
🏆 Outstanding Dietitian of the Year – Mikayla King
In her first year as a full-time clinical RD, Mikayla is already covering three MedSurg floors + ICU, teaching as an adjunct at UTC, leading a monthly cardiac class, attending hospital committees, and serving as CAND President. Her passion for nutrition and service shows in everything she does. A rising leader in our field. 💪
🏆 Outstanding Dietetic Educator of the Year – Dr. Hemangi Mavadiya
Dr. Mavadiya embodies what it means to connect classroom learning with real-world application. Her mentorship, critical thinking approach, and deep commitment to student growth make such a lasting impact in the MPH:ND program at UTC. We are better because of her leadership.
🏆 Outstanding Preceptor(s) of the Year – CHI Memorial
Under Maria’s leadership as CNM, CHI Memorial has created an incredibly supportive and collaborative environment for supervised practice students. From onboarding to hands-on clinical experiences, their team actively invests in shaping future dietitians and strengthening our local program.
This is what it’s about — mentorship, service, leadership, and lifting each other up in this profession. So grateful to be part of a community that values growth, excellence, and heart. ❤️
