Happy Boston Marathon Day! πββοΈππβ
β
Today, thousands of runners will cross that iconic finish line on Boylston Street β and we can't celebrate this race without honoring the woman who made it possible for all of them.β
β
In 1967, Katherine Switzer () ran the Boston Marathon when women weren't supposed to. πββοΈβ
β
A race official tried to push her off the course, but she refused to stopβ¦ and finished all 26.2 miles.β
β
In 2017, Katherine returned at age 70, this time alongside 13,700 women β proving how far we've come. πβ
β
Her bib number, 261, became a symbol of women breaking barriers in sports. π₯β
β
Every woman toeing the line in Boston today runs a little bit because of her.β
β
Tag a strong woman who inspires you to keep going β on the course and off it. πͺπ₯β
