Eric Evans, Edgecombe County Manager, is happy to announce the selection of Michelle Etheridge as the County’s new Health Director. She will lead a team of approximately eighty-five employees and is responsible for the administration of the County’s public health programs and services.

Mrs. Etheridge has a Masters in Health Education from East Carolina University. During her twenty-two-year tenure with the County, she has served as Health Education Specialist, Coordinator of Health Services, Local Public Health Administrator, Deputy Health Director, and more recently, as the Interim Health Director.

Catawba County Public Health is recruiting for a Public Health School Nurse. Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct, high quality nursing services in assigned schools in Catawba County. A School Health Nurse should be a person who enjoys children, and can work at ease with ages 5-18. Another must have attribute of a School Nurse is to be comfortable being the “go to” person in a school setting for all things health related.

Permanent school nurse positions work 40 hours per week during the school year, with time taken off on some non-school days/school vacation days, and part of student’s summer break.

Last week, Forsyth County Health Director Joshua Swift (right) represented the county to recognize the North Carolina National Guard for their exemplary service to the state during the COVID-19 response. Guardsmen CPT Kent Hartlieb and SFC Charles Craig were on hand to receive the proclamation on behalf of 35 guardsmen who have been on duty over the last year. The guardsmen have helped to administer over 100,000 doses of vaccines during this time. The NCALHD applauds the guard and thanks them for their service.
