A win for Virginia school safety! 🎉

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Senator Senator Aaron Rouse, Delegate Alex Q. Askew, the unanimous support of the General Assembly, and Governor Glenn Youngkin's signature, Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERPs) and Athletic Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) will soon be in our public schools.

We couldn't have done it without our amazing volunteers, advocates and youth ambassadors who lobbied the legislature and the Governor. Thank you for helping make our schools safer and more prepared for cardiac emergencies!

The Heart Alert Community Training Center would like to thank Steve Simon for his support and guidance during his tenure as Director of Western Virginia EMS Council.

Steve was instrumental in the process of WVEMS becoming a Training Site under Heart Alert. His input on our Board made Heart Alert stronger.

The Heart Alert Board of Directors wish Steve the best of luck as you return to the Fire Service as the new Chief of The City of Salem Fire & EMS Department

We hope we can work with you on future projects.

We are sad to see Steve Simon leave WVEMS as our Executive Director in May as he embarks on his next journey. We are grateful for his leadership and dedication to the advancement of WVEMS!

We wish him the best on his future endeavors with Salem Fire & EMS Department!

More information will be shared in the coming weeks as we work towards filling his position.
