I had the opportunity to participate in an extensive plant medicine course instructed by Amanda Merkx at Apotecario Salvaje (Olivia's Homestead) in Talamanca. The class provided valuable understanding of the therapeutic properties of plants, including anti-inflammatory, lymphatic, parasiticidal, and mucolytic effects, as well as their role in bodily balance. The realm of jungle medicine is captivating. I would like to express gratitude to Amanda Merkx and Olivia Schneider for sharing their expertise. Tinctures derived from these natural resources can facilitate bodily transformations with results. Amanda Merkx and Olivia Schneider collaborate with individuals to address health concerns and empower them with knowledge of plant medicine.

Amanda is a MSc. Naturopath and holistic health care practitioner, with 12 years living on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. She has worked as an environmental and health educator at high schools and elementary with social programs and is passionate about bridging people with local plants and their innate capacity to heal. She has worked in several community garden initiatives and volunteered at Afro-Caribbean ethnobotany conferences. She is interested in supporting the remembrance of ancestral healing practices and creating holistic options for health care for all peoples.
