Thank you to everyone in Teton Valley who has stepped up to support TVHC in many ways. We continue working hard to stabilize our hospital as we work toward a longโ€‘term, sustainable solution.

Weโ€™ve begun early conversations with several hospitals and health systems. These are exploratory only, and no decisions have been made. Weโ€™ll keep the community informed as this process continues.

Weโ€™re also working closely with the County Commissioners to ensure healthcare remains strong and accessible in our Valley.

While recent weeks have required us to make difficult decisions, I want to share with our community that we remain deeply optimistic about the future of Teton Valley Health Care.
ย
Even as weโ€™ve had to reduce our workforce and close our infusion clinic, we have been actively engaged in meaningful conversations with potential partners who share our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare to the Teton Valley community. These discussions are progressing positively, and we are exploring opportunities that would not only stabilize our operations but position TVHC for sustainable growth.
ย
The resilience of this hospital has always been rooted in the strength of our community, and that foundation remains as solid as ever. We are working diligently to ensure that Teton Valley Health Care continues to serve as a vital healthcare resource for generations to come.
ย
I understand that change can be unsettling, but I ask our community to remain hopeful. The partnerships weโ€™re pursuing reflect a shared vision for a thriving healthcare facility that can expand services and better meet the evolving needs of our region. We are committed to keeping the community informed as these conversations advance.
ย
Teton Valley Health Care has weathered challenges before, and we will emerge from this period stronger and more capable of fulfilling our mission.ย

Sincerely,
Nancy Osmundson

Teton Valley Health Care wishes to address a recent article published by Teton Valley News. While the article contained accurate information, the headline was misleading, prompting the publication to issue corrections.

It is important to clarify that Teton Valley Health Care has not received $189 million in funding. This amount, part of a larger initiative known as the Rural Health Transformation funding, remains at the federal level and is earmarked for rural hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide.

We are actively monitoring the progress of this funding on a daily basis. Once it is approved, it will proceed through the legislative process, reach the states, and ultimately be distributed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Current projections indicate that organizations in the State of Idaho may not see any of this funding until at least October. Furthermore, there is growing concern that urban and suburban areas are likely to receive a significant portion of these resources, which were originally intended to bolster rural healthcare facilities.

At this time, Teton Valley Health Care does not anticipate receiving any substantial portion of the $189 million allocated to Idaho over the next five years.

For any inquiries regarding funding or the status of Teton Valley Health Care, please do not hesitate to contact myself, Nancy Osmundson, Chief Public Relations Officer, at your convenience.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Idaho secured $185.9 million in state-wide federal rural healthcare funding on Dec. 29. But, the proposed relief comes after a long line of healthcare cuts for Teton Valley Health Care,

01/21/2026

Rural healthcare systems across the nation are facing unprecedented challenges. Rising costs and increased demand for services make it harder for small hospitals to remain financially stable.

For our community, a strong local hospital means:
โœ… Faster care during emergencies
โœ… Fewer long and often dangerous trips to distant hospitals
โœ… Continued access to inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services
โœ… A healthier, more resilient community overall.

Your donation today can help protect access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home. As we close out our annual appeal, we hope youโ€™ll consider making an impact today by giving to local, rural health.

โ€œWe Are Going to Take Really Good Care of You.โ€

A few weeks ago, Andy Heffron injured his knee while packing heavy elk quarters out of the mountains. What followed was a journey through diagnosis, surgery, and recoveryโ€”one that reminded him just how special it is to receive care close to home.

From the very beginning, Andy says every encounter at Teton Valley Health Care reflected exceptional care and genuine compassion. On a cold, icy morning, the Facilities & Maintenance team had already treated the walkways, making it possible for him to safely make his way into the Orthopedic Clinic despite his injury. It was a small detailโ€”but one that spoke volumes.

Inside the clinic, the Orthopedics and Nursing teams provided attentive, professional care. Orthopedic Physician, Mike Haskell, ordered the appropriate tests, clearly explained treatment options, assisted with surgery, and took the time to educate Andy both before and after the procedure. Andy describes him as a strong asset to TVHC.

Andy also shared high praise for Dr. Stefan Turkula, describing him as a talented surgeon and a warm, compassionate human being. He appreciated the time Dr. Turkula took to explain the surgical procedure and the confidence he instilled in achieving a positive outcome. Although Dr. Turkula is no longer seeing patients at Teton Vally Health Care, he continues to perform surgeries at TVHC in our Operating Room.

Throughout the process, Andy experienced seamless coordination across departments. Laboratory Services made blood draws quick and painless (even for someone who hates needles). Imagingโ€”including X-ray, EKG, and MRIโ€”was efficient, professional, and reassuring.

When it came time for surgery, Andy recalls the Surgical Services team as both professional and kind. What stood out most was a moment just before anesthesia, when members of the surgical and anesthesia teams each told him, โ€œWe are going to take really good care of you.โ€ Those simple, sincere words left a lasting impressionโ€”instilling trust, calm, and confidence at a critical moment.

A few weeks post-surgery, Andy is recovering well and looks forward to a full return to the activities he loves with the help of TVHC Rehabilitation Services.

โ€œI am grateful that we have a community that cares and provides professional healthcare with a personal touch,โ€ Andy shared.
