Proud of our physicians and grateful to work alongside such an outstanding team at Fairview Park Hospital. Thank you for prioritizing provider safety and patient care!
Protecting those who protect us 💪🏼
Fairview Park Hospital is proud to house a new, innovative piece of equipment that has ONE job:
To protect the Physicians and staff who are saving lives and serving our community each day by shielding them from the constant radiation they operate in.
Our Interventional Cardiologists, Cardiovascular Electrophysiologists, and Interventional Radiologist use our Cath Lab each day to perform live-saving procedures on patients in need of interventional heart and image-guided procedures.
Before employing this equipment, doctors and clinical staff had to wear multiple pieces of heavy, lead protective gear, such as aprons, collars, and skirts to keep them safe while performing procedures on their patients - which was also an enormous strain on their bodies and range of movement.
Now, our physicians and staff benefit from a movable lead-equivalent shield that allows them to operate efficiently and even more safely as it provides enhanced protection for the full body without having to don multiple pieces of lead outerwear!
This is such a win for our facility, specifically for our providers stepping behind the glass in our Cath Lab, exposing themselves to radiation for extended periods of time while saving lives!
To our doctors suiting up on the front lines every day, thank you for what you do to serve our patients and our community! We are honored to suit up and serve alongside you ❤️
