What even is holistic healthcare, anyway?
Is it crystals and kale? Is it yoga under a full moon? Well... maybe sometimes. But really, it’s about seeing all of you—mind, body, spirit, emotions—as connected and worthy of care.
For a long time, I was laser-focused on fixing myself. Chronic illness has a way of putting you in survival mode, where the only thing you can think is, “How do I make this stop? I can’t live like this anymore.”
Truth is—I wasn’t really living at all. I was just hanging on, and barely.
I’ve done all the food experiments. All beef? Felt amazing. Until it didn’t. Because while nutrients and blood sugar and detoxing are super real, so is this little thing called your nervous system. And when you’re constantly stressed, deprived, and stuck in a loop of “what’s wrong with me now?”... your body notices.
Y’all, I literally convinced myself I was reacting to EVERYTHING I ate. And my brain, being the loyal drama queen it is, totally bought it. Our thoughts matter. Our beliefs matter. What you think and say can physically affect your body.
Science agrees. Also—so does the Bible. (Hello, "life and death are in the tongue.")
At one point, I was so frustrated. Doctors helped, sure. But I had to dig deep and figure a LOT out on my own when I was already running on empty. That was hard. But God’s been teaching me—patiently and personally. He really doesn’t waste anything. (Not even the hours I spent in bed watching vet shows on Hulu...which is how I found out turtles get cold laser therapy. I mean?? Why was I not getting lasered too?!)
Anyway—back to holistic health. The biggest shift happened when I stopped trying to fix myself and started seeing myself the way God sees me. It’s wild how much changes when you start living from love instead of lack. Even my body started calming down.
So why am I sharing all this?
Because I love you. Because I want life and healing and purpose for you. Because maybe you need to hear today that you’re not broken. You’re just tired. You’re human. You’re still here. And that means there’s still beauty and joy and restoration waiting for you.
Do something today that brings you joy—big or small.
Fly a kite. Sit on your tailgate. Watch your chicken peck around the yard. Drink that Mission Bake Shoppe iced coffee you were smart enough to preorder on Friday (truly, my most genius move this week). Just don’t settle for less than joy. For peace. For purpose.
If you need a friend, prayer, or someone to remind you who you really are—I’m here.
Be seen. Be heard. Be well.
Happy Saturday, friends.
