We’re hearing a lot about “Sephora kids” these days. These are the kids as young as 9 or 10 years old who are recently flooding the cosmetic store aisles and posting their extensive skin care routines online. In 2023, teen shoppers spent 33% more on cosmetics and 19% more on skin care compared to the previous year. 🛍

It’s a phenomenon that stems from an obsession with social media, which is a whole topic in and of itself. What we’re concerned about is the ☠️ ingredients they’re applying to their young skin 🥰 and the money they’re wasting 💸 in hopes of achieving the unattainable results often promoted online (hello, filters!). 🤨

🗞 The study, published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, investigated home cleaning products, including sprays and other cleaners. The study aimed to find out how cleaners damage the lungs and impair function.

The researchers concluded that cleaning products’ irritating ingredients cause damage through different avenues, including:

✔️ Triggering immune system dysfunction
✔️ Setting off inflammation in mucous membranes
✔️ Damage to the airways on the cell, structural and tissue level

The study linking cleaner use to cigarette lung damage should certainly give you pause 🤔 💭.

But there are dozens and dozens of other peer-reviewed, published studies outlining how harmful cleaning products impact our bodies ⚠️.

Perhaps the scariest part? Cleaner manufacturers don’t have to disclose all of the ingredients in products 🤯. And we just don’t know what health effects stem from the way all of these questionable ingredients mix with each other.

No one should be risking their health with these products. You’re better off just using water.. Or pick truly green companies like pure haven that don’t compromise and won’t trade your safety for a quick buck like most other greenwashed brands do i.e. ECOs, Mrs. Meyers, Method, Seventh Generation, etc.

🚫 Dyes are produced from byproducts of coal processing known as coal-tar dyes
🚫 Most dyes are made with a combination of 20 or more chemicals in order to achieve a particular shade. These chemicals are synthetically created from chemically refined petroleum by-products, acetone, and coal tar!

Yuck! I definitely do not want to put that on my face daily! 🧖🏼‍♀️

GLOBAL VICTORY: Johnson & Johnson Announces it Will Discontinue Talc-Based Baby Powder Globally in 2023!

While continuing to deny any wrong-doing and defending the safety of their product, Johnson and Johnson announces it will start using cornstarch, not talc, in all the baby powder it sells around the world.

“It took tens of thousands of lawsuits and two hundred NGOs to get J&J to finally do the right thing and end the global sale of its toxic talc,” said Janet Nudelman Director of Breast Cancer Prevention Partners Campaign for Safe Cosmetics “It is truly hard to comprehend, what took them so long,” said Nudelman. “And hard not to wonder if the 2023 expected launch of J&J’s new independent consumer company has something to do with the timing of this announcement, given how badly our Campaign has been tarnishing their brand.”
