Swipe through to learn about PCOS and solutions —>
This month is dear to me. I started seeing symptoms of PCOS at 11, prior to my me**es. At 13 when my period started, it was met with multiple symptoms described here. I have been chronically ill my whole life and it took 20 years for doctors to listen to me, test me appropriately, and give me a diagnosis.
The standard protocol that docs will recommend is Metformin for insulin/weight control, birth control for hormone support, and cosmetic solutions for hirsutism. I tried birth control before my diagnosis and felt insane, stopped it in a year. My weight has always fluctuated. My bloods reflect many of these abnormalities. But changing my lifestyle, even before I started using herbs, made a world of difference.
This month, and always, hold space for those in your life with PCOS. Like many pathologies that only or disproportionately affect people with ovaries, uterus, and/or vaginas: it is often dismissed and not taken as gravely as it should be when it comes to accommodations. To note, veterans with PCOS qualify for disability because of the development of secondary illnesses associated with it. MAKE ROOM FOR US TO MAKE ROOM FOR OURSELVES.
If you have PCOS, or even feel like you may, you can reach out to book an intake session with me and I’m glad to help.
