🦷🎉 Happy National Dental Retainer Day! 🎉🦷
Let’s give a BIG smile for the little device that keeps our teeth in line — literally! 😁

Did you know?
✨ Retainers help maintain your smile after braces or aligners.
🕒 Wearing your retainer as instructed can prevent years of orthodontic work from going to waste.
🦈 Some retainers are even named after sea animals — like the Hawley retainer, which kind of looks like a shark fin!

Retainer Care 101 (aka how to keep your smile – and retainer – fresh!):
🧼 Clean it daily with a soft toothbrush (NO toothpaste – it’s too abrasive!).
🥤 Avoid hot drinks or leaving it in a hot car — heat can warp the plastic.
🧃 Keep it away from sugary drinks while it’s in — rinse or remove first!
🦷 Always store it in its case when not in use. Pets LOVE to chew them up!

So here’s to retainers — the unsung heroes of a lasting smile! 💙

🦷✨ The month of June is National Oral Health Month! ✨🦷
Let’s talk teeth — and why they matter more than you might think!

Your mouth isn’t just for smiling and snacking — it’s a window into your overall health. Poor oral hygiene has been linked to serious health issues like:
❤️ Heart disease – Inflammation from gum disease can increase your risk.
🧠 Alzheimer’s – Some studies show a connection between gum disease bacteria and brain inflammation.
💨Respiratory infections – Bacteria from the mouth can travel to the lungs.
🩸 Diabetes – Gum disease can make blood sugar harder to control.

🤔 Let's brush up on what can you do to help:
✅ Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
✅ Floss daily to clean where your brush can’t reach
✅ Limit sugary snacks and drinks
✅ See your dentist twice a year

Taking care of your mouth is taking care of your whole body!
Let’s celebrate with healthy smiles today — and every day! 😁💙

It's Root Canal Awareness Week! Wondering if you might need a root canal? 🤔

Symptoms can differ, but common signs include:
🦷 Continuous tooth pain, especially when chewing, which can be sharp, throbbing, or shooting pain and may radiate to your jaw or face.
🦷 Intense sensitivity to hot or cold that is persistent and lingers.
🦷 A tooth that has become discolored or dark, suggesting that the pulp is infected and not getting enough blood supply.
🦷 Swelling, redness, or tenderness in the gums near a specific tooth, which could indicate an infection. You might also notice a dental abscess, which looks like a pimple on the gums.
🦷 In some instances, a root canal may be required even if there’s no significant pain, such as after a dental injury or if a crack exposes the pulp.

The biggest advantage of choosing Root Canal Treatment is that it saves your tooth! This means there will be no missing teeth or gaps! Please reach out to our office if you're experiencing any of these symptoms so our expert team can assist you!

Fun facts to celebrate World Health Day! 🌎🦷💜
-Laughter can actually decrease pain and release happy hormones.
-Adequate sleep reduces your risk of many diseases.
- Your nose has a superpower. The average human nose can remember 50,000 different smells. While a dog’s nose may be more powerful, that number’s still impressive.
- Owning a dog may reduce heart disease risk.
-Lemons are one of the world’s healthiest foods. Not only do they contain high doses of vitamin C, but lemons also aid in weight loss and immune system function. Adding some to water can be a simple way to add a wellness boost to your day.

In honor of National Dentist Day, we would like to introduce our wonderful team of doctors!

Dr. Judi John has been practicing dentistry just shy of 16 years and made Amherst Dentistry her home in 2014. She is a native of the beautiful island of St. Kitts in the Eastern Caribbean. Dr. Kevin Hrab has been practicing dentistry nearly 38 years and joined our team two years ago! Dr. Hrab was born in Buffalo, grew up in the City of Tonawanda, and attended college at the University of Buffalo. Dr. Hrab has a focus in specialty dentistry including but not limited to root canals, extractions and implant placement.
