Aurora Partners for Thriving Youth (APTY), alongside our community partners, has been hard at work addressing youth va**ng and ni****ne use. Now is the moment for our community to show up.

To***co Retail Licensing (TRL) is a proven, common-sense policy that strengthens enforcement, holds retailers accountable, and reduces illegal sales to minors, without targeting responsible businesses.

That’s why we are asking you to PACK THE CHAMBER in support of To***co Retail Licensing. When community members, parents, educators, youth, and health professionals show up together, decision-makers listen. Your presence sends a powerful message: Aurora cares about protecting youth, supporting healthy choices, and creating safer neighborhoods.

What our local youth are telling us about va**ng access

The latest Healthy Kids Colorado Survey shows troubling trends when it comes to how easily young people can get va**ng products. Access is alarmingly high — and some trends are moving in the wrong direction:

84% of students who tried to buy a v**e in 2023 said they were not refused due to their age.

Nearly 1 in 4 reported buying from a retail to***co shop, a significant jump from 2019.

Even though “easy to get” responses have gone down slightly, nearly half of youth still feel v**e products are easily accessible.

This data reminds us why strong community action and responsible retail practices matter. Together, we can reduce youth access to harmful products and create healthier futures for our kids.

Aurora Partners for Thriving Youth (APTY) is working to make sure every young person in our community has the chance to grow up healthy and free from addiction. Right now, 1 in 4 students who use ni****ne products report getting it directly from a tobacoo retail outlet. That’s a big problem we can fix.

A To***co Retail License (TRL) is a proven way to:
✅ Hold retailers accountable by monitoring compliance
✅ Reduce illegal sales to youth
✅ Regulates ni****ne and other retail products like ma*****na and
alcohol.

This is not about punishing businesses — it’s about creating a level playing field and keeping our kids safe.

At the heart of the be well movement are the be well Block Captains. be well Block Captains are residents and community stakeholders who are “on-the-ground” to provide a trusted hand in helping their family, friends and neighbors lead healthy lives. They educate their fellow community members on important health topics and opportunities, connect them to health resources and engage in efforts to create healthier communities.

be well Block Captains encourage healthy living through innovative leadership, community organizing, education and advocacy, programs and screenings, and social media.

The aim of this training program is to engage with young people in the community enabling them to acquire a certification to officiate soccer matches. Participants in this program will be certified to officiate games across the state. Trained youths will have the flexibility to choose the venue, game schedules, number of games they wish to officiate, and the specific age group they prefer. Compensation for officiating ranges from $25 to $35 per game. Certification obtained through the program will remain valid for one year. Being a referee builds leadership skills, teaches the ability to make decisions, and how to work with others.

This is a free program for students age 13-17.
