Dreamdra Yoga Studio Discovered Yoga in my early 40’s and uncureably fell in love with its paths. Will stay a humble student of its depths till I breathe!

Hope I will pass the spark of Yoga further on to others!

Yoga is a gift that endlessly keeps on giving. I was so lucky to come across it. Love all my yoga teachers!

You can play with the same sequence in numerous ways targeting different outcomes. One of my favorite sequences for variations is Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutation) from Ashtanga yoga. If I want more cardio practice, I keep the poses short (1-2 breaths). If I want to ground, calm my mind, center and balance, I keep poses for 3-5 breaths. If I want to build mental resilence, focus and presence, I go for 10 or more breaths per asana, if I want to challenge myself, I do the flow with eyes closed.

Trikonasana (Triangle) is a pose that feels good – physically, it strengthens thighs, hips and back while toning the knees and ankles. It also stimulates abdominal organs. It is known to be therapeutic for anxiety. The pose allows for the expansion of the muscles creating space for emotional release and healing. It symbolizes mind, body and spirit. It is also a symbol of transformation. The three points point to the trinity – the creator, sustainer and destroyer.

In Boat pose (Navasana in Sanskrit), you are not just strengthening your core but also the hip flexors and spine. That helps with good posture, stimulates kidneys and helps in digestion.
Boat is a challenging balancing pose that, apart from physical strength, builds also our mental strength by utilizing the ability to conquer difficult situations.
It stimulates Root and Sacral Chakras.

Is Yoga the answer to everything – all your problems in life? I do not think so.
Is it the only exercise your body need? Hardly even that.
Then why should one do it?

Yoga philosophy and practice can offer one possible outlook on life, it can provide a lot of useful tools for both, body and mind. Is it the right one? If we want to be completely truthful, no one really knows, no one can say it is the right way for everybody, like nothing else in life. It most probably is not for there is no ‘one fit all’ as we humans are. There are a lot of paths leading to the same or similar conclusions. Yoga can provide a lot of practical tools for self-study, for getting to know and understand yourself and world around you. And it certainly is not a quick fix for everything. It takes a lot of practice, discipline and dedication. It is a practice for life.

The question is just is it the right one for you? Does it resonate with you?
And the only way to know that is to give it a try. And then, maybe, never to quit…

On picture – a yoga pose called ‘The Goddess.’ Who do you think of as Goddess? To me, it is the Nature. She is like super-powerful mythical creature, the Goddess that teaches, nurtures, heals and sometimes punishes/destroys.
Yoga in nature is very special and dear to me. It is a different experience than controlled indoor environment. It challenges your balance more for it is never flat where you may lay your feet/knees, back. It challenges the power of concentration more because of small or bigger animals flying, crawling, running (depending on where exactly in nature you practice :) and weather conditions – a breeze or maybe light rain, etc. Despite some challenges, yoga in nature can provide more wholesome, connected, meditative practice if you are by the lake, sea, waterfall, mountains…

In practicing asanas (poses), most important are steadiness and ease – to be steady in body, breath and focus and to move forward from effort to effortless in poses.
In yoga, the concept of 'effort-and-ease' encourages us to practice finding the balance between mindful movement and energy. A pose should feel alive and warm, but it should not come at the cost of holding your breath, pain, or force. It is about moving through, not plowing ahead. While holding a pose, your shape is to be steady, muscles engaged, breath rhythmic, calm and mind present and observant.
