Michigan State University Brain Cycle Study

Michigan State University Brain Cycle Study The MSU Brain Cycle Study (BCS) investigates changes in brain activity, behavior and hormones over a woman's menstrual cycle. All data are confidential.

This study is federally funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. We are looking for women between 18 and 25 to participate in a study examining the relationship between women’s menstrual cycles and changes in behavioral characteristics and brain activity. Eligible participants 1) must have regular menstrual cycles (i.e., the number of days from one period to the next is the same every month), and 2) they may not be currently taking hormonal contraceptives (i.e., birth control pills/patch, Mirena, Depo-Provera, NuvaRing, etc.) Participation involves coming into our lab on MSU’s East Lansing campus for six visits. Over the course of the study you will be asked to fill out daily online questionnaires and collect saliva samples for 35 consecutive days in the comfort of your own home. In addition, four of the in-person visits will involve completing computerized tasks during which your brain activity will be measured using a non-invasive EEG cap, which resembles a swimming cap. You will receive up to $280 for your participation. If you are interested in participating, please contact us at:
