This week our interns learned about healthy relationships — understanding the difference between being friends and being friendly in the workplace.

These discussions help interns build appropriate professional interactions, show respect for boundaries, and develop strong communication skills that lead to workplace success. 💼✨

Today our team had the opportunity to meet with Project SEARCH Co-Founder Susie Rutkowski for our model fidelity review. This meeting was an excellent opportunity to celebrate our program’s successes, share new ideas being implemented, and problem-solve challenges that impact the growth and success of our interns.

Our Instructor Brooke was joined by Michael, coordinator with Michigan Project SEARCH , Ben, MSU Business Liaison , and Amber, Ingham Intermediate School District Transition Coordinator. Together, the team engaged in meaningful collaboration and reflection to strengthen our program’s impact.

We’re excited to continue building on this momentum and supporting our interns in developing essential workplace readiness skills and achieving competitive, integrated employment!

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) — a time to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and to recognize the importance of inclusive workplaces for everyone.

Inclusion means embracing all abilities, both visible and invisible. Many disabilities are not immediately seen, but they can still impact how a person experiences the world and the workplace. Taking the time to learn about invisible disabilities—such as learning differences, mental health conditions, or chronic illnesses—helps us create spaces where every individual feels valued, supported, and understood.

💡 How can we support inclusion?
Listen without judgment.
Ask, don’t assume.
Offer flexibility and understanding.
Educate ourselves and others about different experiences.

Let’s continue to build workplaces and communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. 🌟

Today our Project SEARCH team attended the statewide meeting with Michigan Project SEARCH to collaborate and share ideas that strengthen our programs! We explored the benefits of community partnerships, discussed strategies for developing meaningful conversations, and connected with other programs from across the state. It was a great opportunity for networking, learning, and building new ways to support our students’ success.

🍕 Spotlight on Jacob! 🥖

Jacob has been doing an amazing job at the Gallery Dining Hall! He’s been making pizzas and breadsticks, preparing sandwiches, and has even improved his wrap-rolling skills.

He’s also serving customers confidently and helping keep the dining hall running smoothly. We’re so proud of his hard work and progress! 💛💚
