🎃 Trick-or-Treat Practice Tips for Neurodiverse Kids! 👻
Halloween can be full of fun and surprises — a little preparation can make it easier for everyone. Here are a few ways to help your child feel comfortable and confident for trick-or-treat night:
🧡 Practice: Take a short walk and rehearse listening for “Stop,” “Wait,” and “Come with me.” This helps your child strengthen safety skills ahead of time.
🕹️ Visual Schedule: Show a simple picture or step-by-step outline of what happens — putting on the costume, walking to houses, saying hello, collecting candy, and coming home to sort treats.
💬 Communication: Whether your child uses words, gestures, or pictures, practice how they’ll say “Trick or Treat!” and “Thank you!” Pointing to a card works just as well as saying the words out loud.
Small steps now can make a big difference on Halloween night. Have a safe, sensory-friendly, and spooktacular time! 👻🍬

We are thrilled to introduce you to our newest addition to The Neuro Bridge team!
Staff Highlight of the Week

My name is Emily, and I am from a small town in southern Vermont. I am currently completing my second year in the MSW graduate program at Smith College. My work is characterized by a deep passion for playing and learning with neurodivergent children. Through play, I carry an emphasis on authenticity and humor. I have previous experience engaging with neurodivergent individuals in different settings, including a behavioral health summer camp and residential care. During my previous experience, I also had the pleasure of running groups with children centered on emotional regulation and social skills.

I look forward to starting play sessions at the Neuro Bridge and meeting you all soon!

October is Bullying Prevention Month - a time to stand together for kindness, inclusion, and understanding. 💙

For neurodiverse kids - those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other unique ways of thinking and experiencing the world - bullying can cut especially deep. Too often, their incredible creativity, empathy, and individuality are misunderstood instead of being celebrated.

This month, The Neuro Bridge commits to teaching compassion, modeling inclusion, and reminding every child that their differences make them extraordinary, not "other". When we listen, learn, and advocate, we can help create schools and communities where neurodiverse kids don't just survive - they thrive!

Kindness is powerful, inclusion is strength. Together we can build a world where everyone belongs. 💛
