✨ Daily Joy Practice

There is so much competing for our attention right now.

So many voices…
so many opinions…
so much pulling us away from the present moment.

And without even realizing it, we can begin to feel
scattered,
overwhelmed, or disconnected.

But our attention is powerful.
And we get to choose where it gently lands.

💜 Today’s Joy Practice:
Notice one thing of beauty today.

Something small…
light through a window…
a kind smile…
the way the air feels on your skin.

Pause with it for just a moment.

Let yourself really take it in.

This is how we come back.

This is how we soften the noise.

Take a breath.
Let that be enough for today.

✨ Daily Joy Practice

We carry so much in our bodies, often without realizing it.

Tension in the shoulders.

A tight jaw.

A breath we didn’t know we were holding.

Before we try to “figure everything out”…
we can begin by simply softening.

💜 Today’s Joy Practice:
Take 5 slow breaths.

As you breathe,
gently unclench your jaw…
drop your shoulders…
relax your hands.

No need to change anything else.

Just give your body a moment to feel safe.

Take a breath.
Let that be enough for today.

✨ Daily Joy Practice

Yesterday we stepped outside to reconnect with ourselves.

Today, we gently reconnect with each other.

In times that feel heavy or uncertain, it can be easy to turn inward and carry it all alone.

But small moments of connection can shift so much.

💜Today’s Joy Practice:
Reach out to someone,
just to say…

“I’m thinking of you.”

No long conversation needed.
No perfect words required.

Just a simple reminder…
we are here for each other.

Take a breath.
Let that be enough for today.

✨ A small beginning

Lately, I’ve been feeling how much noise and tension we are all holding, often without even realizing it.

So instead of adding more…
I want to offer something simple.

Small, daily moments to come back to ourselves.
To soften the body.
To reconnect to what is still good, still steady, still here.

Nothing overwhelming.
Just gentle practices you can return to each day.

🌿 Today’s Joy Practice:
Step outside for a few minutes. No phone.
Just notice what’s real…
the air,
the light,
the ground beneath you.

Take a breath.

Let that be enough for today.

Why are HUGS important for our health and mindset?

The science behind it tells us:
When people hug for 20 seconds or more, the feel-good hormone oxytocin is released which creates a stronger bond and connection between the huggers.

We just KNOW that we feel better after a warm hug!

Have you held someone in a hug for over 20 seconds?

How dId you feel?

At some point in the 20 seconds your body lets go as if everything you were holding “in check” just releases!

Have you ever felt that?

Have a difficult relationship that you want to change? Start with a hug!

Holding people in grace and with a hug can help reboot those relationships you have found challenging.

Need to forgive? Start the conversation off with a hug and see where the dialogue takes you.

So TODAY lets experiment! Find someone to hug today! Your partner, child, grandchild, friend, etc!

Until we see each other in person, I am sending you a virtual hug!

Mindfulness is not checking out.
Peace is not passivity.
Joy is not ignorance.

We are living in a time where information, fear, outrage, and distraction come at us fast and furious, often before our nervous systems have a chance to catch up.
Our minds race.
Our bodies tighten.
We scroll, react, freeze, or burn out.

At Joyful Self Wellness, we believe mindfulness is about staying present and staying purposeful.

It’s about regulating our nervous systems so we can respond—not react.

It’s about anchoring into our values so we don’t lose ourselves in the noise.

It’s about choosing peace in our bodies while still taking action in the world.

Here are a few ways to do both—peace + action:

💜Regulate first.
Before engaging with the news or social media, pause.
✔️Take three slow breaths.
✔️Feel your feet on the ground.
A regulated body leads to clearer thinking and wiser action.

💜Move your body daily.
✔️Walk,
✔️stretch,
✔️shake,
✔️breathe,
movement releases stress and brings us back into alignment so we can show up with strength and clarity.

💜Limit the input.
You don’t need to consume everything to care deeply. Choose intentional windows for information and give your nervous system time to rest.

💜Reconnect to your values.

Ask yourself:
What do I stand for? What kind of human do I want to be in this moment?
Let your actions come from alignment, not overwhelm.

💜Create Community. Regulation happens faster together.
✔️Gather.
✔️Talk.
✔️Create.
✔️Listen.
Healing and change are not solo acts.

Mindfulness doesn’t mean turning away from what’s happening.

It means staying rooted enough to engage with compassion, courage, and clarity.

May we care deeply without losing ourselves.

May we protect peace without abandoning action.

💜May we move forward,
✔️Regulated,
✔️Intentional,
✔️and aligned.

Quiet reflection….

Why do we love to watch snow falling?

Does it cause nostalgic feelings?

Does it cause us to pause just for a moment?

If we are lucky enough to have enough of an accumulation we get to pause long enough for our body to settle down and find that beautiful center of alignment and peace.

Is it the pureness of the snow that offers a quiet peace and hope in the moment?

Does your breath slow down and regulate?

Does the endless chatter in your head get even quieter?

How does that feel?

Take this moment to sit in this feeling…

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

What comes to mind?
What happy thoughts or memories pleasantly show up?

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Do you begin to count your blessings?

What are you grateful for today?

Maybe it’s the furbaby in your arms.

Maybe it’s a simple gratitude to slow down after all the hustle and bustle of the week.

Sharing your gratitudes puts yourself in a happier state of mind and elevates the positive energy you put out there into your family, your communities and the collective!

This is the secret sauce for a beautiful mind and body!

Pass this on to someone you know needs to hear the message today!

Pass the love!
Pass the positivity!
Pass the JOY!

The Power of Play was an incredible way to begin our Sunday morning!

We discussed the benefits of play on our bodies and minds. When you are playful it is much easier to turn off negative self talk and distractions around us. We give permission to others around us to play by our example!

It just feels good…so if you are looking for ways to feel good in challenging times and tune out the distractions…come grow with us!
