Speak Up Counseling is considering starting a Transgender Group Therapy program, but I want to hear from providers and the public alike before I start forming anything.

This would be a group for transgender, gender non-conforming, and potentially those with a loved one who identifies as either.

Discussions would be around struggles with living as trans in a heteronormative society, issues with health disparities, celebrating trans joy and accomplishments, expression therapy, social opportunities, processing trauma in a group setting, living as trans in America in 2025, legislation that both helps and hinders quality of life, and any other topics that are relevant and important to the group members.

The U.N. has stated we need $40 billion per year to feed all of the world's hungry people and end global hunger by 2030.

If one person would let go of just 12% of his $324,000,000,000 net worth - I'm looking at you, Elon Musk - to feed everyone, then the ultra rich are clearly the ones we need to target for paying to solve the world's problems.

While it’s tempting for us to get outside this time of year to clean up gardens, consider waiting a little longer to help out our pollinators. 🐝Many native bees, butterflies and moths are still overwintering in dead stems, under leaves, and in the soil, and they won’t begin to emerge until it’s a bit warmer, some even until late May. 🦋

Some indicators of when it’s safe to do garden cleanup without harming pollinators include waiting until overnight temperatures are reliably in the 50s, when lawns are growing enough to justify regular mowing, and/or when apple trees are done blooming. One caveat to this is that cutting old stems back to 12-24” above the ground in the early spring can provide some new nesting sites for bees that begin to emerge. New plant growth will eventually cover the stems in the garden. 🌼
