Today we are proud to recognize not one, but TWO outstanding PGH employees — Marqus Harris and Britane Whipple! 🎉

Both Marqus and Britane joined the PGH family in October and November and have already made a tremendous impact in our Laboratory Department as phlebotomists. Both were nominated by coworker Julie Thomas for their dedication, teamwork, and willingness to learn.

Julie shared:

“Our jobs in the lab involve so many different aspects with our wide variety of lab services — new employees usually take a good amount of time to get fully trained. Both Marqus and Britane have been able to absorb our lab complexities at lightning speed! Both are a significant source of support to the lab techs working with them. They are willing to do anything they can to learn more and assist in making the lab run smoothly. We are soooo grateful they have decided to be a part of our PGH family!”

Marqus and Britane were presented with certificates, flowers, cookies, and gift cards in recognition of their hard work and positive attitudes. 💙

May is Skin Cancer and Melanoma Awareness Month ☀️🕶️

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and melanoma is the deadliest form. The good news is that when caught early, melanoma is highly treatable.

Protect your skin by:
• Wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher
• Reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors
• Wearing hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing
• Avoiding tanning beds
• Checking your skin regularly for new or changing spots

Remember the ABCDE warning signs of melanoma:
• Asymmetry
• Border irregularity
• Color changes
• Diameter larger than a pencil eraser
• Evolving or changing spots

If you notice anything unusual, don’t ignore it. Talk with your healthcare provider or schedule a skin check. Early detection can save lives. 💙

Day 5 wrapped up Hospital Week with a great day of food, appreciation, and teamwork at PGH! ❤️🏥

Employees enjoyed breakfast provided by Dr. Meigan Millerand lunch provided by PGH and US Foods. Administration spent the day grilling hotdogs and burgers for staff as a thank you for all they do. 🌭🍔

Employees also received gifts sponsored by Farmers & Merchants Bank , and Hospital Week shirts sponsored by the Putnam General Hospital Foundation. A special thank you to Red Dog Apparel Co.for making the shirts!

We also appreciate Eatonton Fire Department for providing fire extinguisher training for our staff today.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Hospital Week so special for our employees. We are grateful for our team and the amazing community support we received all week long! ✨

Day 4 of Hospital Week was filled with great food, fun, and recognition for our incredible team! 🏥✨

Employees enjoyed a Chick-fil-A breakfast sponsored by LABORIE and a delicious lunch prepared by Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee featuring Chicken Marsala, roasted vegetables, rice pilaf, and an assortment of desserts. 🍽️

Our staff also enjoyed a bingo game with prizes sponsored by Athens Micro

Today we also held our annual Service Awards Ceremony where we honored employees celebrating 5 to 35 years of service, as well as previous Employee of the Month winners. We are so grateful for the dedication, compassion, and commitment our team brings to Putnam General Hospital every day. 💚

Tuesday was Fiesta Day at Putnam General Hospital as our Hospital Week celebration continued! 🌮🎉

Employees started the morning with donuts and coffee sponsored by Cintas and enjoyed a taco bar lunch sponsored by The Peoples Bank.

We also celebrated the birthday of Florence Nightingale as we wrapped up Nurses Week. Our nurses were honored with roses and birthday cake to recognize their compassion, dedication, and the incredible care they provide every day. 🌹🎂
