✨🎄 Power of Perception 6th Annual Holiday Party 🎄✨

Tonight was nothing short of incredible. We were blessed to welcome over 100 families to celebrate the season together as one big POP family ❤️

We shared a full dinner spread with wings & corn muffins from Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que of America, mac & cheese and chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-A, along with water, snacks, and juice. The love was felt so strong that we even ran out of food—and quickly grabbed pizza, which also ran out! 🥹

Our donut holes from Funner Brothers Donut Company were once again a huge hit with the kiddos 🍩

Every child received a culturally relevant book to take home, raffle prizes were won, and our activity room stayed busy with bracelet-making and holiday ornament crafts 🎨✨

Special shout-out to our Black Santa 🎅🏾 for blessing the kiddos throughout the night. The smiles, laughter, and excitement as they took pictures with you were truly priceless. Your presence reminded us why representation matters and helped make this night even more magical for our families ❤️

A huge thank you to our volunteers for helping make sure every station ran smoothly and to my amazing POP team for always showing up and making sure our kiddos had a great time.

Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this night an overall success—from donating monetary funds to gift cards, books, coats, and winter wear. We are truly grateful for the village that continues to show up and support our mentees and the entire POP family day in and day out 💙🙏🏾

We’re proud to highlight Willie 'SoFocused' McCalebb who was recently featured on Nick Tabbert News 18 for his business, S**G Academy LLC. S**G Academy is making a powerful impact by training, mentoring, and developing athletes both on and off the field.

We’re grateful to have mentors like him who lead by example, pour into youth, and show our mentees what dedication, discipline, and entrepreneurship look like in real life. 💪🏾🏀📈

We had an amazing mentoring session today with our South Middle School chapter! 🎨✨

Our mentees took part in an Art & Perception workshop led by our mentor, Kierstyn, where they reflected on how they see themselves and expressed those thoughts through creative artwork and writing. The conversations were powerful as they opened up about the difference between how they view themselves and how they believe others see them.

The level of honesty, creativity, and heart they poured into this project was truly inspiring. 💙

As always, snacks, water, and juice were provided—always a favorite—and the excitement is definitely building for our upcoming Holiday Party! 🎄🎉

So proud of our mentees and grateful for moments like these that spark growth and self-reflection.😁✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽😁

We’re excited for another impactful POP mentoring session tomorrow morning with our South Middle School! 🎨✨

Our lesson will focus on Art & Perception, led by one of our newest mentors, Kierstyn. Mentees will take part in a hands-on art workshop that encourages creativity and seeing things from a new perspective.

🎄✨ POP Secret Santa Grocery Giveaway & 6th Annual Holiday Party ✨🎄

Join us Wednesday, December 17th | 6:00–7:30 PM at The Children's Museum of Eau Claire for our 6th Annual POP Holiday Party!

During the celebration, a few POP families will be blessed with Secret Santa grocery gift cards. This opportunity is open to mentees in ALL POP chapters (school-based & district-wide). Mentees can enter by submitting an essay—please follow all guidelines on the poster.

✨ Enjoy photos with Black Santa, culturally relevant books, ornament decorating, hot cocoa/donuts, free dinner, and live entertainment in a joyful, culture-affirming space for ages 0–18.

😁 POP District Wide Mentoring Session 😁

🎥 Check out the video highlights! Our POP ECASD District Wide mentees took part in a hands-on cooking class in collaboration with the Menomonie Market Food Co-op.

In this video, you’ll see our mentees learning essential life skills with guidance from Chef Alex, including:
🥗 Salad & veggie prep with homemade ranch
🍝 Spaghetti & homemade Alfredo
🍗 Chicken breast
🥦 Roasted broccoli

They also practiced kitchen safety, proper handwashing, knife skills, measuring, and teamwork—all while having fun and building confidence.

This experience was all about learning, growth, and opportunity in action. 😁✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽😁

😁POP ECASD District Wide Movie Night Recap😁

We had an incredible mentoring session last night with our ECASD District Wide chapter as we enjoyed an amazing movie night together! Huge shoutout to Micon Cinemas for hosting us at their beautiful downtown location.

Our mentees had the chance to watch “Piece by Piece” — Pharrell Williams’ creative life story told entirely through Legos. The film highlighted his journey through failure, perseverance, success, and the power of staying true to your purpose. Such a unique and inspiring experience!

We were treated to a full dinner and movie spread — pizza, popcorn, unlimited drinks, and candy — which made the night even more special. After the movie, each cohort spent time reflecting on what they learned and how Pharrell’s story connected to their own paths.

A special highlight was having one of our POP Alumni join us — Khalil, home from his first semester at an HBCU in Texas (Texas Southern University). He shared insight about his college experience, the transition, and how he wrapped up his first semester with an impressive 3.8 GPA. A true full-circle moment for our mentees!

Last night reinforced a powerful message: no matter how many times you fall, you get back up — and try again. 😁✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽😁
