The elders said
a people are measured
not by what they conquer
but by what they are willing to carry
without letting go of tenderness.

They said the future
does not ride on warriors,
but on whoever can bear weight
without passing it down as harm.

They taught that guardianship
is not a loud duty —
it is a quiet agreement
to stand between danger and breath
even when no one sings your name.

So the lineage continues
not through victory or noise,
but through those who choose
to hold another life upright
until it can walk on its own.

An Artist Development & Wellness Workshop at White Bear Center for the Arts with instructor Gigi Risberg Stafne

Prepare for winter by creating a personal sanctuary that offers calm, clarity, and renewal. Explore northern perspectives on land energies and the art of sacred space-making. Learn to use herbs, plants, and colors to evoke harmony and protection in your home or chosen sacred space. Explore both the spiritual and practical aspects of sanctuary design, then begin sketching and shaping your own sacred space. This is a creative, grounding experience for anyone seeking beauty and balance in a chaotic world.
