It’s Brain Injury Awareness Month. I had no idea, but I’m all for it! For those of you who didn’t know, I suffered a traumatic brain injury on January 31, 2011. It sent me to the hospital, where I spent 14 days in a coma and several months after that in rehab.
I can’t say that it was a blessing, but it did spark my love for fitness. Working out in the gym and regaining my ability to walk and be physically active again gave me great joy—enough to know I wanted to help others accomplish great things of their own.
It was a long, long journey, but 14 years later, on January 30th, 2025, I was able to start Top Tier Health and Fitness, where I continue to listen to those who want to better themselves, in either big ways or small. I use my knowledge, fueled by passion, to help my clients on their fitness journey break through their goals.
