Birth in Full Bloom, LLC

Birth in Full Bloom, LLC We are 6 certified and professional birth and postpartum doulas serving Delaware families! We also offer prenatal massage and reiki sessions.

The word ‘doula’ (pronounced ‘doo-la’) is a Greek word meaning ‘woman servant or caregiver’. Today, a doula is defined as a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical and informational support to the mother who is expecting, is experiencing labor, or has recently given birth. A doula (also known as a birth attendant) believes in ‘mothering the mother’, enabling a woman to have the most satisfying experience that she can, from pregnancy and into motherhood. This type of support allows the whole family to relax and enjoy the experience too. Women have complex needs. This is especially true during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Having a doula can help to meet these needs and make the entire process significantly better for the mother, partner, and baby. The doula is the advocate for the mother, enabling her to have a more empowered birth experience.

We are so excited to be partnering with ChristianaCare in our joint effort to provide underserved mothers and families with prenatal education, birth support, and postpartum support. Our common goal is to address healthcare inequities and ways to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. Mona Liza Hamlin

ChristianaCare is currently accepting expecting parents with due dates in March, April or May 2022 for its FREE Birth Companions program. Birth Companions will help improve your overall health experience by providing an additional layer of emotional and physical assistance while giving students from the UD College of Health Sciences who have received Birth in Full Bloom doula training, a valuable opportunity as they continue their education. ChristianaCare is proud to partner with the University of Delaware to provide this greater level of support before, during and after birth. For more information and to register, call 302-301-3360 or email parenteducation@christianacare.org.
