Hosted by RoundGlass Global Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing, Prakriti Saxena Poddar and an incredible panel of mental health experts, we will explore conversations ranging from a broad overview about mental health to identifying the ways anyone can find opportunities to evolve during these very challenging times.

Prakriti will be joined by Harvard Department of Global Health Professor Vikram Patel, President of Barnard College at Columbia University Sian Leah Beilock, Executive Mental Health Advisor Martin Enault, Co-founder of The Center for Mindful Living Elisha Goldstein, Ph.D., Sharon Coyle Saeed, LMSW, Health Coach, Grief & Trauma Specialist, and Psychiatrist, Neuroscientist, Mental Health Advocate Dr. Raghu Kiran Appasani with The Minds Foundation.

Our hope is that conversations like these can serve as resources for education, help to cultivate awareness around important topics, and provide actionable tools to support people.

If anyone has hurt me or harmed me knowingly
or unknowingly, in thought, word, or deed,
I freely forgive them.
And I too ask forgiveness if I hurt or
harmed anyone knowingly or unknowingly, in
thought, word or deed.

May I be happy.
May I be peaceful.
May I be free.
May my friends be happy.
May my friends be peaceful.
May my friends be free.
May my enemies be happy.
May my enemies be peaceful.
May my enemies be free.
May all beings be happy.
May all beings be peaceful.
May all beings be free.

can one break the cycle? the cycle of addiction? of abuse? of poverty? of incarceration? of anger? when these self sabotaging thoughts/behaviors/feelings may be so deeply rooted in our sub conscious? in our family? in our mindset? our belief system? how many times do we hear or say, i will never be like my mother or my father and you stop one day and realize you ARE? how do you break this pattern? can it be broken? first step is to recognize there is a pattern. how does one break it, if not
for your own self but breaking it for future generations? it takes courage and strength and LOVE!

LOVE IS THE NEW WEAPON!

I John 4:18- There is no fear in love.

it is thru our attachments to things and people that there may be a feeling of permanence. i have therefore i am.

we come into life with our little hands grasping grasping grasping for people and things

when we leave our muscles release and we let go. we can not grasp any longer for we cant take the things or people with us

holding onto things while we are living, we create an illusion of "this is my piece of the pie, this is yours and look at how big my pie is compared to yours or look how much smaller and is it ever enough? what is enough?"

trouble is: it is all the same pie and by accumulating more, we actually have less. oh sure we may have more stuff then our neighbors, but we have to take care of that stuff, store the stuff, the stuff builds up, and creates clutter and anxiety when we cant find stuff in the clutter so we buy the same stuff over again because it causes too
much trouble to dig thru it all....

and then it becomes overwhelming. it starts to weigh us down. it creates guilt, shame and "hey i thought i was going to be happy with this stuff but its actually making me feel gosh awful"

the soul longs for simplicity. we come into this world with nothing and we leave with nothing. "stuff" is not our natural state.

i was speaking to a friend the other day and they said "but he doesnt make me happy" and i replied "well there is the problem. if you give some one or some thing the power to make you 'happy' then the flip side is the thing or person can make you 'unhappy' dont give your power away and work on finding ways to make your own self happy"

but how? if things and people arent the way to happiness....then how? for me, it is quieting the mind, prayer, staying in the moment, gratitude, and coming to terms with my limited self and impermanence. oh no im not morbid (although i can pass for a wednesday addams type) and i am very much a cup half full person. however, thru clearing the clutter literally and figuratively speaking, we make room to sit with ourselves and our Higher Power and open a priceless closet of finding meaning and gulp happiness.....personally, i find this closet more fulfilling then one filled with clothes from rodeo drive or nordstroms
