You may think you just need to cut carbs, eat cleaner, or push harder in the gym to lose weight…

If nothing in your training has worked, maybe it’s not you. Maybe it’s the plan.

Here’s why that matters:

Most programs were never built for real people with careers, kids, hormones, and a schedule that doesn’t revolve around fitness.

They expect you to be perfect with tracking, nutrition, fans calorie burn.

But the truth is — that’s hard to do… at first. Programs that don’t understand that mean one thing: you’re not the problem. The plan is.



3 Reasons Fat Loss Gets Harder Over 30 — And What Actually Works

1. You’re under-eating and over-stressing.

Most people think less food = faster results. But under-fueling slows metabolism and raises cortisol, which tells your body to hold onto fat.

→ Instead: Focus on eating 25–30g of protein per meal — even on rest days.

2. You’re doing workouts that hurt your gains — not support it.

HIIT, cardio circuits, and bootcamps are great, but doing them too much can leave you depleted and impact your results.

→ You need 2–3 strength-based sessions/week that improve muscle tone, not spike stress.

3. You’re changing plans too fast.

You need consistency, not more willpower.

→ Give your body at least 21+ days of simple, structured action before you judge the plan.

A few months ago, reached out to me to join a group class. After 1 class, she was a resounding “yup, I’m all in”.

“Before I found Foundations and TJ, I was working out a lot but it wasn’t at a consistent time or place.

I was running all over OKC to try and catch the class or instructor I liked at whatever time.

I was worn out and knew I needed something that worked for me consistently.

Truth is, no one wants to feel this way. But these issues, although common, do have answers.

And one of those answers is hormonal imbalances.

If you had labs done and told everything is “normal”, but, you’re struggling with weight loss… then something isn’t normal!

𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒: If you’ve ever been told you’re experiencing “X” symptoms because of stress, you’re probably right. Why? Cortisol! Cortisol is the chemical released when you’re stressed. And increased cortisol levels can increase your appetite, cause muscle breakdown, and cause you to store fat.

𝐒𝐋𝐄𝐄𝐏: When we sleep, our bodies release hormones into the bloodstream. However, lack of sleep disrupts this process and can greatly impact hormone levels.

𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐓: You ever heard the phrase you are what you eat? That’s actually true. What we eat great influences our hormone production.

𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄: Diabetes, PCOS, Hypothyroidism, Depression, etc, these issues greatly impact your hormone levels and your ability to lose weight.

Weight loss in its simplest form is about being in calorie deficit. But other factors matter.

- Glucose levels matter.
- Insulin levels matter.
- Getting of birth control matters.
- Having kids matters.

Focusing on eating real, nutrient rich foods rather than processed foods, regulating your sleep, regular physical activity, managing stress, and limiting sugar and caffeine intake are greats way to ensure you’re getting what your body needs.

If you’ve never had your levels checked, we’d encourage you to do so, either from your primary care physician or a hormone specialist. It could be what you need to start seeing the changes you’d like to see.
