Last week I completely overhauled my refrigerator and pantry.

No more highly processed foods and snacks for my kids. I completely get the ease of simply buying Chex mix and goldfish and cheese itz and fruit roll ups for their lunch boxes.

My son is also allergic to dairy, which makes it harder to grab on the go snacks for him.

But we recently started making all of their snacks from scratch.

So far we’ve made granola bars, cheese itz, goldfish, Nutella (I got suckered), dried fruit for my husband, and beef jerky. My kids have loved getting involved too!

Will it be time consuming and take time that I already don’t have with our busy schedule? Yes. Will it be worth my kids’ health in the long run? 100% yes.

I’m putting this on the internet to keep myself accountable and not quit when it gets hard because of our schedules 🤪

I’m VERY novice and starting simple, but follow along for our new kitchen habits!

I’d also love tips and tricks and your favorite homemade snack recipes!

Also, who has made pasta from scratch? That’s my next goal!

Shout out to my girl, Maisy! I’ve been working with her for a few months now and the progress this girl has made is unbelievable!

She’s a 12 year old tennis player who was looking for quicker feet and stronger hits on the court.

Maisy has far exceeding any expectations and keeps working hard. No matter the workout I throw at her, she eats it up.

The harder it is for her and the harder she has to work, it’s always her new favorite workout 💪

Her work ethic is nothing I’ve seen before.

This week she’s competing in the L1 USTA Winter Nationals. Something only a select number of tennis athletes get invited to 👊🏻

I’m so incredibly proud of her and honored to help her take her game to the next level! 🎾

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this incredible athlete, and person!

THE SCALE IS A LIAR! Keep reading to learn why…

I don’t often share my own progress or results, but this one is important. I took my before pictures on November 21, 2023. It’s when I was released from physical therapy to start working out based on what my body could handle. I’d spent more than a year being mostly sedentary, finally had my back surgery in June, then rehabbed consistently until November (I still go, just not as often since I’m getting stronger) 👏

I’ve spent 6 months focusing on gaining my strength back, minimizing down days and pain, stretching and doing mobility exercises A LOT!

I did not track my food at all. I did prioritize water and protein. I still enjoyed occasional desserts and a couple drinks.

I have consistently strength trained 3-4 days per week. In the past month I’ve started walking/running on the treadmill and outside with my 10 year old, so my step count has increased. I’ve been consistent.

Here is the part about the scale-I didn’t step on the scale one time until the morning of April 4, 2024…ZERO weight loss. Not even an ounce 👎

I did, however, drop one pant size. I have more energy, am starting to feel more confident, and definitely feeling stronger. I even sleep more soundly 😴

This 100% proves that the scale does NOT measure our progress. I totally get we want to see it move, but it’s not the tell all in your journey.

Truth be told I’m bummed it hasn’t decreased, but I’m actually more excited that I dropped a pant size.

This also proves that we need to measure and take progress pictures, mainly because of that dang scale!

I encourage all of my clients to stay off the scale for this very reason. We like to see that movement, and when we don’t, we quit.

And if we quit, we’d never see progress pictures that show lost inches and gained confidence.

So put that scale away and stay consistent.

You’ve got this 💪
