A very nice patient presented Friday for Micro-Surgery on the root ends of tooth #12. We treated the tooth orthograde with no luck in the palatal canal. A decision was made to abort orthograde treatment, and schedule microsurgery. Upon reflection of the flap after a submarginal incision, no fenestration was found. The roots were resected and stained with methylene blue. Two canals and an accessory canal were discovered under microscopy.
Retropreps were done with a KIS tip and a piezoelectric unit. Retro filling was done with Edge Root Repair Putty. Biopsy has yet to be enlightening. Patient was reappointed for suture removal. Prognosis is excellent.

I played General Dentist today. A very nice patient presented with a carious #30 with absolutely no sign or symptoms. It tested WNL to Endo Ice spray, and negative to percussion and palpating. Probings were all less than 4 mm. Mobility was 1.
The patient did have a Distal coronal infracture. There was no sign of any need for Endodontic therapy. Anesthetized, isolated with RD, removed Caries, and found no clinical pulpal exposure or blush. Vitrabond was placed, enamel etched, and All Bone 2 and Predictacore were placed. The patient was advised that we could always do the Endodontic therapy if necessary. She was advised to see her Dentist for a full coverage restoration. She was placed on a 4-6 week recall. Prognosis is excellent.

Had a pretty fun day yesterday. I pulled just about every trick I knew to get through it smoothly. This nice young patient presented last March with an inflamed #30. Sorry for the radiographic quality, but we were under the gun to get things going. We ended up opening the tooth and placing Calcium Hydroxide. Because the pain went away quickly, the patient did not come in for the Final appointment until yesterday. We ended up cleaning, shaping, and obturating the tooth during yesterday's visit. We also placed an MTA barrier in the distal root. This made backfilling with gutta-percha much easier. And here we have the result. Notice that in 6 months we have had a lot of healing and continuation of apical growth. This was reinforced by the great apical stops I encountered during yesterday's appointment. The prognosis is excellent, and I advised a final restoration.

Huh! Nice!!!
