Nanay, Tatay, Anak This is another space to share information on the works of the cast members and production crew of "Nanay, Tatay, Anak."

"Nanay, Tatay, Anak" is a play that is based off of the life of the writer, co-director and co-producer of the show, Renee Rises. Renee originally created this play as a way to understand her past more deeply and to learn how to forgive people she felt she did not understand. After the first run of the play, she realized how significant this story is to share with the Fil Am community as it opened up dialogue for the Filipino American community regarding issues pertaining to healthy eating habits, mental health, addictions, language miscommunication, cultural and generational conflicts and infidelity. The end of a school year is such a special, busy time. Maybe we missed the heat wave, but my kids' goodbyes were sudden and quick. We are grounded here for the moment, but we know we missed a lot in the respective communities we are each a part of. Bittersweet memories. & the way my kids from say is just so sweet 🥲.

One of my students gave this to me. And it felt very clear to see how she sees me.
Ending the year with my students is so important to me and I'm very sad not to have the opportunity to. Of all my years teaching, this one felt the most successful, the most growth, the most aligned to my life and what I hope all children will one day have an opportunity to experience: the freedom to be true to themselves and deeply connected to the earth. 🌍

Late buses, late nights for passport renewal, early pickups for a doctor's appointment, interrupted naps, vaccinations, afternoon tears, healthy foods for meals, for treats, and listening to the news, listening to my students, their broken ankles, misunderstood actions, the checking in, the checking out, the calm corner, the rain, the sunshine after the rain, remote controlled cars, , rock climbing, tiny feet in tiny puddles and a riding a motorcycle. It's just Tuesday.
