Reflecting more on patience in marriage.... It is not just about having patience with your partner in the small annoyances. It is also about patiently waiting on God during seasons of hardship. All marriages have seasons of hardship. It is so difficult to patiently await direction from God because of the illusion that we are in control. It is so important to know God's voice and the way He speaks to you specifically. Then be still and await Divine guidance. It won't fail! It will give you confidence against the naysayers and our own doubt.

September 13th is our 8 year wedding anniversary. As I reflect on our journey, my heart remembers 1 Corinthians 13, which was recited at our wedding. I didn't appreciate the meaning fully then, but it has such deep relevance now.
Today I am focused on the first adjective God used to describe love - PATIENT. Marriage brings two imperfect people with past trauma and unresolved issues, odd habits, and unique pet peeves together to unite as one. There is no way two can exist in harmony without patience. It is a daily practice, and it grows through the years as we respect each other's differences, and pick our battles. But most importantly, we lean on The Holy Spirit, because patience and long-suffering is innately ours as a fruit of the Spirit.

𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 — most relate this term to absolving a person of their part for a negative interaction but this is incorrect.

Forgiveness is an important part of the healing process for yourself. Each situation is different but in every case there has to be:

-acknowledgment of the event
-how the interaction has caused you trauma
-personal work & growth to heal from the trauma
-final release of the trauma by releasing the involved parties hold on your life also known as forgiveness.

This month’s theme is forgiveness and I will be highlighting key components of this important part of self healing and growth.

As we enter July, I will be hosting a virtual group discussion on walking through the steps of forgiveness for anyone ready to take that next step in manifesting their best self.
