American Chiropractic Association defines Chiropractic as, “… a healthcare profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Doctors of chiropractic (DCs) practice a conservative approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. In addition to manual therapies such as spinal manipulation, DCs are trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, and to provide nutritional, lifestyle and dietary advice. Conditions they treat include, but are not limited to, back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.”
This month we will be sharing some chiropractic education, fun facts, and we will even have a giveaway! Although Total Health is an Integrated Clinic, meaning we provide more than chiropractic, chiropractic is the foundation on which our clinic is built.
And just like the history of Total Health Integrated Clinic, the history of chiropractic has evolved over the years. However the basic principle remains. We are taught in chiropractic school that “chiro” means hand and “practor” means teacher/practitioner. And to this day, we continue to use our hands to support movement and healing, and we teach so that our patients can live a fuller life.
