Tourist season unofficially kicked off this last weekend. All the seasonal spots are getting busy already. Sometimes this makes it easy to miss out on some of the best parts of state during the best weather. Those tourist attractions can be fun for a family outing, even if they're busy.

So we want to know, where are your favorite places to play tourist in Maine? Is it a scenic spot, a restaurant, or a fun outdoor music venue? We don't need the top-secret local spots, just those ones that are a fun way to pretend you're visiting for the day! Photos welcome!

Having access to healthy food is an important component of healthy aging. The Maine Senior FarmShare Program (offered through Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry) gives income-eligible adults the opportunity to receive $50 worth of first-quality, fresh local produce at no cost directly from local Maine farmers during the growing season. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Seniors face unique mental health challenges as they age. They have major life changes, loss, health conditions and more. New York State's office for aging compiled some useful statistics and resources, as seen here.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. While mental health affects everyone, older adults experience unique life circumstances that can affect mental health, such as the loss of a spouse/partner or peers, managing chronic medical conditions, the emotional challenge of coping with illness, or feeling....

Today is World Laughter Day! The idea of the annual celebration of laughter is meant to foster harmony and joy.

Part of our mission is to bring joy to our clients and caregivers. We want them to find moments to laugh and enjoy the companionship of caregiving.

In that spirit, we think everyone should take a moment today to do something that makes them laugh, or, even better, laugh with someone else.

April is Nation Letter Writing Month. It was started as a way to celebrate the postal service and everything they do. Today, letter writing is most often replaced with digital communication via texts, DMS, emails, and more. Those options are effective and quick, but a handwritten letter is more personal and thoughtful. Letter can become invaluable keepsakes even.

There is a wonderful program called Letters Against Isolation that connects volunteer writers with seniors through community groups. They have sent more then one million cards and letters in the last 6 years!

You can check them out below, and maybe even sign up to write letter yourself.

Letters Against Isolation volunteers handwrite friendly letters to seniors in care homes & programs in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Spread smiles with us!

April 10th is National Sibling Day!

Fun fact, our franchise is owned by siblings. As siblings, they bring something rare to leadership: an unspoken understanding of one another. They’ve grown up learning how to communicate, support, and adapt together. They’ve carried that dynamic into the workplace in a remarkable way.

Each of them brings something unique to the company, as well as a clear bond as a family. They show daily that beyond being managers, they genuinely care about every employee and client. That culture ripples outward. Caregivers feel supported. Clients feel valued. And the entire organization reflects the warmth and respect that started within their family.

While they do not shine a light on themselves often, if ever, I thought that today was a good day to share the impact their family bond has on the culture and empathy within the agency. And to show a little peek beyond the curtain of our leaders!
