As part of my master’s program in social work, I took a class on how practice, policy, and systems shape health and mental health care delivery. This highlighted the importance of coordinated services and interprofessional collaboration.
I came across the CORE Program and wanted to share it so the community knows it’s available!
The CORE Program (Coordinated Opportunities for Recovery and Empowerment) supports 12–23-year-olds in Milwaukee experiencing first-episode psychosis.
Why coordinated services matter:
Complex behavioral health needs are best addressed by a team of professionals: social workers, therapists, medical providers, and educators. Coordinated care helps clients and families receive holistic, person-centered support, from mental health treatment to education and life skills.
Why interprofessional collaboration matters:
It helps professionals communicate clearly, share expertise, and work together efficiently. For young people, this means better outcomes, less confusion, and more support for families navigating mental health systems.
Accountability is key in coordinated care, ensuring each aspect of support is addressed thoughtfully and effectively.
If you know anyone who could benefit from this information, please pass it on!
