~Dr. Crystal Gullo-Buzzetti Why did I decided to get training?

I started Healing Arts Chiropractic & Wellness in 2010 as a new graduate. I soon realized that our area had a severely underserved population, Women and Children. I decided to get post-graduate training in Pregnancy & Pediatric clinical care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association created by Dr. Larry Webster, DC. Knowing that Chiropractors are certified in the care of ANY person 1day old to Seniors, I did not feel the knowledge of HOW to adjust women and children was transferred to students clearly and I was absolutely validated in my thinking. Knowledge of the developing neurology and spine of an infant and how to properly assess an infants primitive reflexes, body postures, and spinal alignment is paramount to delivering the appropriately modified and controlled Chiropractic adjustment. Children are not "little adults", there spine must be handled with confidence, care, and precision as many movements are prohibited due to developmental limitations. Chiropractic care in this developing stage can promote healthy neurological development and we can often spot delays in development early and work with OT, PT, and Pediatricians to foster optimal wellness. In pregnancy, neurological development is also critical. Each stage of pregnancy requires detailed care and many Chiropractic adjustments are modified for the safety and comfort of mother and baby. As mom's body is changing, there are ranges of discomfort she may experience and Chiropractic care should be tailored to address comfort. We are also given the clinical knowledge to educate mom on exercises, postures, sleep patterns, and nutrition to help foster an optimal healthy pregnancy. Webster Pregnancy Care Certification is only offered through the ICPA and all certified practitioners are registered through the ICPA only. You can up look any certified practitioner at ICPA4KIDS.com if they are a valid certified doctor. The knowledge gained from post graduate certification changed how I delivered care in my office. Our visits are thorough and we take our time with our patients. Adult initial visits are 45 minutes to 1 hour, and follow up visits are 30 minutes. We have similar timing with our children. I pride myself on putting my heart, soul, energy, and love into the care I provide. Every child is like my child, and every mother is like my sister. Call, email, message, or text to find out any additional information you may need. And YES, we treat men and dad's too! Women and children are my specialty!!

Good morning! Two announcements!

1st:
We will be back at 214 E Church Street (Our Main Office) on February 1st!!!

It was a long 6 months but we are finally going home! The work isn’t even close to being started or finished in the rest of te building, but atleast we will be back in our respective spaces!

We will be having a Grand Reopening to be announced the old fashioned way… word of mouth and check your email/snail mail because…..

2nd:
I am very unhappy with the new policies on Meta. Within hours of them deciding not to have actual fact checkers our inbox was spammed with conspiracy theories & racist commentary. So we will be deleting our Facebook & Instagram pages.

We have been operating in Elmira with integrity and love. I was born in this community. Our patients know what we bring to area and to their families- they know the commitment we have to dedicated to their care.

I won’t tolerate any hate or discrimination of any kind toward myself, my staff, or in my building. And trust I will challenge it on the spot so please know if that’s what you’re bringing - it won’t be coming through our doors and into our space.

You can find us through our website, text or call, or over on Neptune .CrystalGB which is a new TikTok/ Insta app run by sane people- it releases in February.

So much love to those willing to participate in community and accept everyone for who they are in the world!!

Notice to our patients:

Last year we had terrible damage to our office. It is still being remediated and we were given notice from our consultants that we need to move out of the office temporarily while they do some demolition.

**Beginning July 15th, 2024, we will be relocating just a few blocks down the street to 408 W. Church Street, Elmira. I'm sure many of you know Seamus Kennedy, Acupuncturist and owner of Live Well Upstate. It is his building that we will be working from for a few months.**

We will notify patients prior to their appointments with the change, so no worries about forgetting last minute, we have you covered.

Bridge The Gap Physical Therapy & Pheobe Hull LMT Massage Therapy are all moving as well. We have been a strong unit and we will be flowing down the street on this new adventure together.

This is an important read. Dr. Nastassia has been working in mother baby advocacy in NJ trying to eliminate their excruciatingly high maternal & infant mortality rate.

Receives a 2024 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America recognition in the fields of Corporate Law and Tax Law.

Perez Law, PLLC is proud to announce that Owner and Founder, Attorney Marianne E. Perez, has been recognized in the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch ® in America 2024 editions for her work in the fields of Corporate Law and Tax Law.
Attorney Perez started her career in the Capital Region attending Albany Law School, graduating magna cm laude in 2014. During that time, she worked for two years at the New York State Division of Tax Appeals Court, clerking for the Administrative Tax Law Judges in the State's Capital. Following law school, Attorney Perez continued her Tax Law work in Manhattan's PricewaterhouseCoopers Midtown offices. In 2017 Attorney Perez moved upstate and started her solo practice; broadening the firm's practice areas to include Trust & Estate, Business and Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Real Estate and Elder Law. In 2020 Perez Law, PLLC was officially incorporated, and the firm began significant growth in the area of Maternal and Perinatal Health and Wellness. The firm serves clientele across the state from Buffalo to the Bronx. While continuing to service clients in many areas of civil law, Attorney Perez has shifted her practice to passionately represent an array of NYS birth workers. This "Corporate" practice (for a lack of better legal categorical language) includes Midwives, OB GYNS, Doulas, Lactation Consultants, Chiropractors, Nutritionists, Therapists, and Nurses. Perez Law is committed to supporting and working with maternal health and wellness clients who are the unsung real heroines. There is a steady and strengthening flow of NYS birth workers who are growing businesses and practices built on foundations of dignity, improved health care and better access to resources. They are tirelessly and beautifully educating, advocating, and bringing awareness to maternal and fetal inequities.
"I am honored to receive this recognition. I think the award is appropriately named "Ones to Watch" since I feel more and more that the stories of my clients and the birthing families of New York can no longer be silent about the stark inequalities and mortalities that are affecting our families, friends and communities. We are speaking up, speaking out and working hard to eradicate the health disparities and racial inequities right here in our neighborhoods. It is my sincere hope that those in New York and beyond are ‘watching out’ and ‘listening in’ to the stories of NY birthing families and the work that we are doing. Perez Law is committed to justice and equity for all New Yorkers. The passion I feel for this area of law is unlike any other areas of law I have practiced in. The changes in Maternal and Neonatal Health and Wellness that are being fought and advocated for affect us all.” - Attorney Perez, September 2023
Perez Law currently services clients across the state and has office locations in the Southern Tier Region at 2205 College Ave. Elmira, NY 14903 and in the Capital Region at 1840 Western Ave., Albany, 12203. This is a phenomenal info-graphic. It can be hard as a feeding parent to visualize babies needs. Their bellies are so so tiny and they digest quickly depending on growth cycles (cognitive vs skeletal). It can be really stressful and however you choose to feed- we are here to support you!

This is an important visual. With Tyler-James I followed ’books’ and fed every 3 or so hours thinking ‘well he won’t be hungry he was just fed 2hours ago’ our feeding journey only lasted 5-6 months 😓 with Everleigh and Theo I feed on demand from birth, day and night and they have absolutely thrived! Our baby’s aren’t robots and trying to train them into western schedules from birth is so upsetting and stressful for both mum and baby. I’d love a world where we all fall back into a closer to nature lifestyle with our little ones ❤️

In the hospital they usually tell mums to try to breastfeed every 2-3 hours. Wake baby to nurse every 2-3 hours. That way you can make sure to nourish baby and bring in a good milk supply.

Unfortunately this isn’t exactly how it works🙄 this visual was shared in a post from a friend that I shared a couple years ago and it’s incredibly accurate.

It’s basic math that they use in the hospital to give you the “ideal” feeding schedule. This “ideal schedule” equals about 8-12 nursing sessions in 24 hours which means baby would only have to nurse every 2-3 hours.

This is their way of saying that baby needs to eat often, but this isn’t exactly how it works for mom and baby in real life. Which can cause a mom to really struggle when her baby wants to nurse more often than every 2-3 hours! Nothing like setting new moms up to fail🤦‍♀️

Because they push this so heavily, I’ve noticed that parents seem to think breastfeeding is going to be super simple and perfectly spaced out feedings like the cereal picture. It also makes it look as though all feedings should be the same size so they should be nursing for the same amount of time each time. Which also is NOT accurate.

THIS IS NOT THE REALITY. In reality, baby will have big/long feeds sometimes. Or little/short feeds. Or feeding sessions while they are still mostly asleep. Or feeding sessions that aren’t so great. Or anything in between! They are not guaranteed to sleep better just because their feedings are all spaced out perfectly and done for the same length of time.

Instead of watching the clock and timing sessions, let baby lead! Watch for feeding cues from your little one and go from there😊

I also wanted to say that I love the blueberries portion of this visual. It shows more of a reality for how nursing sessions go. Some are bigger. Some are smaller. Sometimes there’s a longer amount of time in between. And in counting the berries, there are STILL the correct number of nursing sessions for the day.

Amazing, right?! Our bodies and our babies know what they are doing. Let them lead
