Sometimes we try to change our lives by only focusing on what is happening right now. We work on our reactions, our relationships, and our behaviors… yet certain patterns keep returning.

I often share the metaphor of **the river and the source**.

Our life today is like standing beside a river. The emotions we feel, the ways we respond to conflict, the ways we love or protect ourselves are part of the current flowing through us.

But the river does not begin where we are standing.

It begins upstream.

Upstream are the experiences of our parents, grandparents, and generations before them. Their wounds, survival strategies, beliefs about love, safety, and belonging became part of the current that eventually reached us.

Inner child work and generational healing is the journey of walking upstream. When we understand the source, we stop blaming ourselves for the shape of the river and begin to transform how the water flows from this moment forward.

The healing we do today changes the river for those who come after us. 🌿🌊

Inspired by ancestral teachings that remind us life moves in cycles, like those represented in the **Aztec Sun Stone**, where past, present, and future are part of one continuous flow.
