At our facility we have awards for outstanding staff that are nominated by residents and their families. Our awards are named after past residents that left a lasting impact on our hearts through their caring nature and compassion and wisdom. This is not an award that is given on a regular basis. It is purely driven by feedback and not a timeline. It must be earned. We have 2 staff that have earned awards!
First, the Betty Heath Golden Heart Award. The recipient this time is Meylyn, CMA. Meylyn has been with us since Dec 2024. She works day shift as a CMA. We have seen her special bond with our residents and families have noticed as well!
“Mey Mey is so caring to everyone; residents and family as well. She gives 100% to the care of the residents. She is serious about her role, but equally fun loving. Meylyn is very kind to my mom and takes great care of her. Sunflower is very fortunate to have her on staff”- Candee Martin.
“Meylyn has the ability to find moments of connection with Chuck, even when communication is difficult. She does whatever it takes to make him smile and feel seen and loved.”- Connie Detwiler
Next, we have the FIRST ever recipient of the June Hopkins Inspiration Award, Michelle, CNA. Michelle has been a part of the Sunflower family since February 2024. She is a day shift CNA. Families and residents both seem to always enjoy seeing her and you can frequently hear laughter in the house when she is working.
“I am always greeted with a smile and a “Hi Tampa!” when I walk through the front door. She has a great sense of humor and instills it in her work. I love to observe when she is interacting with my aunt. She is fun loving and the two of them keep the humor going. 😃” - Tampa Randolph
“Michelle is so kind. She takes her position very seriously and cares about the residents needs. While being professional and competent, she incorporates fun and humor in her everyday duties. She is very nice and caring to my mom. They have fun when together. Sunflower is very fortunate to have Michelle on staff!” - Candee Martin
Congratulations ladies! And thank you so much for all you do for our residents. Each recipient was given a card with a gift with their award.
