What’s your favorite snack? Popcorn with nutritional yeast; I love nutritional yeast, it’s the perfect cheesy-like addition to popcorn and is full of beneficial B-vitamins. What’s your splurge meal? I’m a sucker for a slice of veggie pizza but if I really feel like splurging, I’ll order fish & chips. What’s your favorite healthy cocktail? Alcohol and cocktails are full of empty calories and extra sugar, but if I’m out I’ll order a vodka soda with citrus or a glass of white wine. What’s your favorite workout destination? I love being outside. In particular, I love the tranquility of the mountains. What’s your favorite type of outdoor activity? Backpacking—it’s amazing to explore while getting a full body workout. It challenges you in ways you can’t imagine-both body and mind. Trust me, afterwards you’ll feel like you can take on the world. What at-home equipment to you recommend? I encourage clients to invest in a 10-15 pound kettlebell, a set of dumbbells (5-12 pounds) and a yoga mat. Equipment should be minimal so you can focus on your form and how your body responds to movement and exercises. Where is your favorite place to shop for workout clothes? Prana, if you can afford a few splurges but if you’re on a budget, Target has some great options. What are your favorite workout shoes? The Saucony Kinvara are great! They are flexible while providing arch and heel support during workouts. What’s your favorite toning exercise? That’s tough—I love the glute bridge and my clients love the butt-shaping and strengthening results from the glute bridge. What do most people forget when focusing on their health? I can’t tell you how many clients have signs of dehydration. Drink water throughout the day, as soon as you rise to help with digestion, mental clarity and fatigue. What’s a realistic time frame to achieve lasting results? I recommend clients give themselves 6-12 months to really see positive and lasting changes from their fitness and wellness routines. Most people want a quick fix, and unfortunately lasting changes won’t happen overnight. By 12 weeks, clients will start to see gradual changes to their body, mind and spirit. What are a few things clients can do to immediately impact their wellness? Your body will respond immediately to consuming more water, 10-15 minutes of stretching (every day) and portion control.
