As the Christmas season creeps up on us, we want to recognize and celebrate the holiday spirit that Mrs. Shirley Erwin embodied. Mrs. Shirley Erwin was a resident of Christian Care of Unicoi County who admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a decline in function.
With the understanding that Mrs. Erwin had a long road in front of her due to her non-weight status on her lower extremity, she entered therapy with an open mind. Mrs. Erwin established consistency with efforts to improve function with the help of therapy services provided by Physical and Occupational Therapy. Mrs. Erwin focused on mobility of her lower extremities, the advancement of stability and strength with tasks directed for the improvement of muscle endurance, strength, and dynamic stability. With diligent work and effort of each therapist and nursing staff, Mrs. Erwin efforts yielded significant improvements in the ability to complete functional task, safe transfer from various surfaces, and ambulation with increased weight bearing during her stay.
With the completion of therapy and met goals, Mrs. Erwin demonstrated overwhelming joyfulness at the chance to return home. She states upon completion of therapy that the department of Physical and Occupational therapy was so great and awesome. She continues to state that it got me to walk again. When speaking about the facility Mrs. Erwin verbalizes that the Christian love, prayers, and support helped her with her rehabilitation and that she could not have done it without the whole team.
During her stay at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County, Mrs. Erwin embodied the Christmas spirit, spreading joy, love, and happiness to all. In the end, Mrs. Erwin was elated to go home and get back to her daily activities, leaving therapy with a quick, “I will miss you and love”.
Thank you for choosing Christian Care Center of Unicoi County for your Rehabilitation. We are proud of the progress you made!
