Hello,

I'd like to introduce you to Christian! Christian was born November 8, 2011. A day that would forever change the hearts and minds of those close to him... Christian was born with Cerebral Palsy. Christian did not have the ‘typical’ birthing process. He had a water birth! During the birthing process Christian became stuck with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. He was born black and blue from lack of oxygen. Although it’s not known how it happened, we discovered shortly after that Christian had endured a stroke as well. Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a neurlogical (brain) disorder and is a lifelong condition. It is caused by damage to the motor control centers of the developing brain. It affects the communication between the brain and muscles and causes a permanent state of uncoordinated movement and posturing. Children with CP often experience learning disabilites and developmental delays along with bone problems, including scoliosis. Children often have asthma and respiratory problems, as well as speech and communication impairment. Christian has a lot of struggles in his life that he works on with the help of therapy. He has Physical, Occupational, Swallow, Speech, Play and Water Therapy, and he even has a therapist come to the house during the week! Christian has been on many different medications and has been in and out of hospitals for many different types of testing. He just completed a week long stay at Duke for Seizure testing. As you can see, he is one very busy little boy! We have Christian in almost every program in the area in hopes of providing him with the best future possible. We all have great faith that he will beat the odds and become something great one day! Despite Christians daily struggle, he always wears a smile – a smile that will melt your heart when you see it! At times, he seems so unaware of the battle that awaits him as he grows into an adult with CP. Underneath it all, he is just the average little boy. Christian loves music, banging on his kindle like a flintstone baby, watching Yo Gabba Gabba and bouncing like tigger. He also enjoys wrestling with his Daddy and Papa, and giggling with his big brother, Stanley. He has the cutest giggle and it’s very contagious! Once you hear it, you can’t help but giggle too! Christian is truly a blessing and inspiration.

- Why 4 Paws for Ability? We know we won’t be able to be there for Christian every waking moment, to keep him safe from rejection, to comfort him when he is sad, frustrated and angry, or to help him with the simplest things that we all take for granted. A dog from 4 Paws would give Christian self-confidence, independence and comfort through the many tests, hospital stays and fears that accompany a child with CP. It would help his anxiety and sooth him during therapy appointments. The benefits of him having a service dog are endless!! Christian is in need of care 24/7, and sometimes it can be overwhelming as he has a 4 year old brother who needs his mommy and daddy too! A service dog would not only help Christian, but the entire family. A service dog can help with a wide variety of things, like retrieving items that are dropped, bringing the phone, turning lights on and off, opening doors and more, but most importantly provide spiritual and emotional support for Christian and our family.

4 Paws for Ability believes service dogs should be made available to any child with a disability who wishes to have the love, companionship, and independence that are the result of a service dog placement. At 4 Paws for Ability, it costs $22,000 to train and place a service dog with a disabled child. However, famililies engage in fundraising activities as volunteers to qualify for a service dog. Each family is asked to raise at least $13,000. By doing this, the waiting list is only as long as it takes the family to complete the fundraising requirment. Every dollar helps and will bring us one day closer to Christian meeting his amazing new friend and companion. It will cost 4 Paws $22,000 to place a dog with Christian. We are committed to raising $13,000 in support of the 4 Paws mission and can reach our goal with your help. If you can help us with a tax-deductible donation, please visit 4 Paws Donation Page (http://www.4PawsForAbility.org/donate-now) or mail a check with his name on the memo line to: 4 Paws for Ability, In Honor of Christian Burt, 253 Dayton Ave., Xenia, Ohio 45385. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Hello everyone,
Watching this with Christian brought tears to my eyes because he loves the grave digger. I would give anything for him to have a costume like this on Halloween. I can bet and know I'd win the bet if I said it would be worn more than just on Halloween. If you know Christian and know him very well you would know grave digger is on TV 24/7 and you dare not change that channel. Lol

5-year-old Brantley Volpel of Oregon City received a custom Grave Digger costume for his wheelchair. Devon Haskins was there.

Look at my sweet baby boy Christian at school in his music class. This boy right here loves going to school and loves music. This momma has taught him to listen to and love all 80s rock music like I listened to growing up. He jams just like this listening to it. If you even dare to change it he will tell you Nooooo and give you that look like you better not change it 😂
Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning everyone,
It's that time again to let you all know what today is.
Everyone knows I have 5 amazing children each has there very own amazing ways about them that make me the proudest mother in this world. Today my little man my youngest who faces challenges and mountains larger than any of us could fathom and rocks it literally every day turns 10. To him this is a blessing not just to him but to us waking up and seeing this little boy's face and looking into his eyes every morning I see me and he is the best version of me I could have ever made and this little guy is Christian Gregory Joe Burt. I can't believe that we have been blessed with this little guy in our lives for 10 years where has time gone? If you know this little guy he has touched your life like he is touched mine and showed us that whatever problems we think we are facing we can make it we can get through it just like he has he's a lucky guy too cause he's got the best siblings anybody could ever ask for. He has an amazing support system from family to amazing teachers and specialists at hospitals and family care doctors. Today let's let him know just how much he's loved let's wish him a big Happy Happy 10th Birthday 🎉🎂🎉

Slow cooked in my ninja since 8am this morning and man it sure does taste good. Nothing like a corned beef and cabbage for 11.5 hours cooking it just falls apart. Christian needed some good old protein to make him feel better so mommy made him some. It's been a very slow and hard recovery from his surgery and we still are not where we need to be but God has us and a plan. Lord knows my patience has been tried my sanity and my wallet LOL it's been really tough but we're getting there we did try to send Christian back to school a couple weeks ago and he only made it for 2 hours before we had to come back and get him and bring him back home hopefully here soon we'll be able to try again once we get this pain under control and them spasms we are looking into a spastic clinic where he goes for his cerebral palsy we are blessed to be in the area that we are to have Duke and UNC and all the specialists at a phone call away. Please just keep my little man in your prayers and whenever I can get a few minutes to post I'll try to keep you all up-to-dated. I am hoping that maybe he will recover enough soon to enjoy a corn maze and a pumpkin picking and trick or treating this year but time will tell. In the meantime mommy's just going to keep him fed real well and make sure he keeps that smile on his face as much as we can hope you all have a good night love you all.

Good morning Facebook friends and family. Just wanted to let you all know we are at Duke children's hospital this morning we have been here starting at 6:00 this morning Christian is having his first procedure done on his legs this has been a long time waiting and something that we just had to do as the Botox injections are just masking the issues he is having with both of his legs. I just got the text that the procedure has started in the operating room and things seem to be going well it will take about 40 minutes. I am told and he will come out and go into the recovery where I will be able to see him and then let you all know how he is doing. keep him in your prayers this morning especially at this time. I know God has his arms around him and all of his precious Angels are watching over him in the operating room. we are hoping for a quick recovery as school starts next Monday. Dr Lark his cerebral palsy specialist and doctor who is doing the procedure informed me that Christian might be able to go to school on the first day as long as the school could accommodate him with keeping his legs straight. Christian is very strong, healthy and resilient so this just might be a possibility especially as he does not want to miss seeing all of his friends and girlfriends on the first day of school lol. I will keep you all formed as I said and just keep him in your prayers and thoughts this morning.

Ugh good morning everyone,
It's Thursday and I'm waiting for my school bus this morning. The sun is already shining and I feel it's warmth. I hope you all have a truly blessed and happy day today. Mommy is playing my favorite song in the morning back in Black by AC/DC. I love starting my morning with it. I still need to wake up as my eyes just keep wanting to go back to sleep. Lol
Talk to you guys later.

Good morning everybody hope you all are having a great day. I'm waiting for the bus to pull up and pick me up outside. It's a nice sunny day and I'm listening to my favorite songs by the singing walrus. Mommy and I listen to him every morning and we sing and dance and get me ready for my big day at school I'm glad we're back to 5 days a week so I can learn and see all my friends. I hope you all have a good day just like me. Mommy says I'm growing so big and she can't find my stop grow button anywhere LOL. The allergies are horrible here in North Carolina so I've been fighting that everything's covered in yellow but we just do the best we can. Well the bus is pulling up so I better go on and get on it see you all later have a wonderful day.
