Had a great time welcoming Delta Force to the hangar today. They asked thoughtful questions, got an inside look at our operation, and even got to watch the helicopter take off. EMS Week is a reminder of how special this profession really is. Behind every flight, transfer, and 911 call is a team of people willing to show up on someone’s worst day and do everything they can to help. Long shifts, late nights, missed holidays, unpredictable weather, and countless hours away from family are all part of the job, but so is the privilege of caring for people when they need it most.

Grateful for the crews we get to work alongside and proud to be part of a profession built on teamwork, trust, and compassion. Thank you to every EMT, paramedic, nurse, pilot, dispatcher, firefighter, and first responder out there continuing to answer the call every single day.💙🚁🚑

Guardian Flight crews spent yesterday sharpening their skills with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) training.

Our team had the opportunity to get hands-on experience, including practicing safe loading and unloading of patients on IABP support. Training like this ensures we’re prepared to safely transport some of the most critical patients when every detail matters.

A big thank you to OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group and the Bellin Cath Lab crew for their support and expertise in making this training possible.

Rotor safety isn’t optional—it’s critical every time we approach an aircraft.

In this photo, you can see a controlled approach into the rotor disk under the direction of trained crew. The rotor system may look calm, but those blades are moving fast and can dip lower than expected, especially on uneven surfaces or during load changes.

A few key reminders:
• Always approach from the front, in clear view of the pilot
• Never walk toward the tail rotor ever
• Stay low and secure loose items
• Wait for a signal from the crew before entering the aircraft

At Guardian Flight, safety is built into every step, on the ground and in the air. When seconds matter, doing things the right way matters just as much.
