Jason Scarborough- Rover Mechanic
You don’t have to know Jason long to see what an impressive path he’s had. He started out as a Marine mechanic in 1999, working on CH-46E helicopters. He went on several deployments, including Iraq in 2003, where the mission was casualty evacuation. After leaving the Marines in 2005, he spent a few years drilling water wells and doing construction, before finding his way back to helicopters with the Santa Barbara Fire Department, keeping UH-1H Hueys flying for wildfire response and hoist rescues. From there, Jason contracted with the Marine Corps, working on UH-1Ns, UH-1Ys, and AH-1W/Z Cobras. In 2011, he moved into EMS with Calstar in California, maintaining Bell 222s until the switch to Airbus EC-135s. In 2018, he transferred to Colorado with REACH, working on Airbus AS-350s and H-130s, and in 2022 he joined AEL. Through all of it, the companies and aircraft have changed, but the mission has always stayed the same for him.
Outside of work, Jason’s the kind of guy everyone’s glad to have around. He loves the outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, hunting, even cutting firewood! At home he enjoys time with his wife Jeanie and their two dogs. On top of that, he builds hot rods in his shop, cooks, and bakes. His homemade bread is incredible. He bakes and shares it with us. That’s the kind of thing that makes you realize he’s not only talented in his work, but also one of those genuine friends and neighbors who makes life a little better (and tastier) for everyone around him.
