✈️ 🤝 Inspiring the Next Generation of Flight Medicine Professionals! 🤝 ✈️

Friday, our Guardian Flight - Iron Mountain, MI (IMT) and Hancock (CMX) sister bases had a great time participating in the Dickinson County Area Health Care Career Day at Bay College West Campus. They spent the day with 10th graders from Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Niagara, Florence, and North Dickinson, sharing insight into careers in air medical transport.

Students took part in a mock MCI/Triage scenario and watched demonstrations of critical skills including tourniquet application, IO access, and intubation. They also talked about the education, experience, and teamwork required to become a Flight Nurse, Flight Paramedic, or Medevac Pilot.

💫It was an awesome opportunity to work together and help inspire the next generation of healthcare and aviation professionals. Thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success!

🌟 🚁 🩺 Flight Crew Friday: New Crew Alert 🚨 ‼️

Jason Babcock MSN, ENP, RN, EMTP-LP, CFRN

Jason brings a deep well of experience to our organization, with 30 years as a paramedic, 8 years as a flight nurse, and 20 years as a trauma nurse practitioner. He’s married with two grown boys and recently made the move to Michigan, where he’s been enjoying the outdoors and especially time in the UP! When he’s not working, you’ll find Jason woodworking, tackling house projects, working out and doing CrossFit, hiking, snow skiing, or getting outside whenever he can.

Jason says it best:
“For me, prehospital medicine has always been more than a job, it’s a passion. Being there when people need help the most, working alongside others who care just as deeply, and knowing we’re making a real impact is what drives me. The relationships built along the way mean everything to me. At the end of the day, it’s about all of us showing up as the best versions of ourselves and making a difference together.”

🎉 Welcome to the team Jason! We are glad you’re here!!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Bay College EMT and Paramedic students to the Guardian Flight hangar! 🚁

Students got hands-on with airway skills, practiced intubations, explored our aircraft, and learned what goes into critical care transport. They even had the chance to experience night vision goggles (NVGs) and see how we operate in low-light environments.

🌟 Always proud to support the next generation of EMS professionals!

We hope everyone is staying safe and warm as we all work our way out from under all of this snow! ❄️ ⛄️ If you don’t need to be out, embrace the snowed-in life and forced slowdown after a busy holiday season. If you must go out, travel safely and remember to keep it slow on ice and snow.

Prepared. Checked. Ready. 🚁

Each shift begins with our medical crew completing detailed bag, aircraft, and equipment checks. Every piece of equipment is physically touched and inspected to ensure it’s ready, charged, and functioning properly. This process ensures we’re prepared to respond when our community needs us, no matter what the day brings!
