So, it’s been a while. How are you all doing? Coping with the “new normal”? Or just basically scrapping through to “gin o’ clock”?
It’s been a tough couple of years. Be kind to yourself. If it all feels too much, message me, call me. Let’s work something out together. You don’t have to do this alone.

Now that we are all thinking about how we will manage a return to “new normal”, it’s likely that our anxiety will increase. It already has for many of us. If you would like to talk things over, if you would like to make a coping plan, or even if you just want to check that what you are doing is right for you, give me a shout. Let’s see how we can make it easier.

Hello Chappies. How’s it all going? How is the “return to normal”? Is it what you expected? Is it what you wanted? Have you been swept away by it?
Take a breath.
Stop.
Listen to yourself.
Make sure this is the “normal” you want.
If you need help with that, let me know.

Hello there. How’s things going? Are u worried about a lockdown ending? Are u struggling a bit with social contact? Who knew eye contact would be such a challenge after all this time? It’s all exhausting. U are not alone. We all feel the same way. Some people are busy enough that they can just push through it. Some people are scared and not sure how to cope with it. That’s ok. It’s all ok. Take a deep breath. Feel the breath in your belly. Let it go. If u feel able to do it on your own, that’s great. If u are struggling a bit, let me help. We all need a hand up at some point. Today might be your turn. Tomorrow u might be able to help someone else. Keep safe.

Hi there. Apologies for not posting for a while. It’s been a bit manic.
It’s been a difficult time for everyone. Possibly for you too. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating well? Are you treating yourself as well as you would treat someone you love?
We need to nourish our minds as well as our bodies. Sleep, reaching out to others, taking time to play and seeking help when we need someone to talk to.
The Remedy Room offers telephone and video counselling in these strange and difficult times.
The hardest part is asking for help. You don’t have to face it alone. Call or message me for an appointment. It can get better.

There are a lot of people out there who are struggling. Some struggles are visible. Job losses, food banks. Others, not so visible. So watch out for the friend you haven’t heard from or the neighbour you haven’t seen for a while. It only takes a moment to check in,
send a text or ring the doorbell. It might mean the world to someone. Loneliness, anxiety, depression are all a bit hidden. Who knows, maybe one day we will be grateful to hear the ping of a text or the doorbell ring when we, ourselves feel alone in the world. Nobody is immune. Keep safe, keep well. Keep your distance. X

For some reason, some weird web address thingy has come up on my page. I’m not a techie. Ask anyone who has ever heard me threaten to throw the computer out the window!!! It won’t let me delete it or change it either. Anyway, my website is :

So how are you all doing? It looks like we are about to face a bleak winter. So what can you do to keep yourself well in mind and body? When you have forgotten how to care for yourself, just go back to basics:
1) Eat (as healthily as you can) at least three times a day.
2) Walk or exercise outside for half an hour if you can and make sure to get morning light
3) Make sleep a priority
4) Keep in contact with those you love
5) Pause. Either for prayer, to meditate or to just be grateful.
These things will make you feel better. Guaranteed.
If you still need support, contact me. Let’s see what we can do. The Remedy Room is still open. We work by phone and video call. It’s surprisingly effective. You can message me, or go to my website www.theremedyroom.org for more details.
Keep well, stay safe. This too will pass.

Thank you to all of you who have stayed with me through this difficult time. As you know, I am still offering telephone and video call appointments. These seem to be working really well.
If it’s all getting on top of you, or you know someone who is struggling, let them know that there is help out there if they want it.
In the meantime, when it all gets too much, go back to basics. A little self care goes a long way. Take a short walk. Get outdoors. Eat something in processed even if it’s just a piece of fruit. Rest. Talk to a friend. Little things make such a big impact. Self care because you would do it for someone else. So surely you deserve it too.

At no time have we ever had to fight an invisible foe like this. We need to protect our mental health just as much as our physical health. Try to take just a couple of minutes morning and evening to pause and breathe for yourself. Allow yourself to laugh. And cry. Be patient. This will pass. We just have to get through it. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t forget to put your own oxygen mask on first. Take care. Stay safe. X
