💙 Community Support Available This Friday 💙 In the wake of Wednesday's tragic bus crash, our hearts are with the Iowa Lakes Community College community, the families affected, and everyone grieving the loss of Carter Johnson.

Moxie Nova staff, along with Murphy CTD, CCO, will be at the Iowa Lakes Community College Estherville campus this Friday, February 13th, from 10 AM to 1 PM to provide grief support and comfort to anyone who needs it.

Healing cannot be rushed. The emotional wounds left by tragedy require time, patience, and compassion. You are not alone, and there is no “right” way to grieve.

We’ve prepared a resource guide on "Healing Together as a Community After a Crisis" to help our community understand common reactions and find healthy ways to cope during this difficult time.

✨ Keep some routines in place
✨ Be patient with yourself and others

Our hearts are with the students, families, staff, and first responders affected by today’s tragic bus accident involving the Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team.

We are holding close in thought the entire campus community, including those injured, those receiving care, and the family grieving an unimaginable loss. Events like this ripple far beyond the scene — touching teammates, classmates, families, and communities across Iowa.

In times of sudden tragedy, it’s important to remember that emotional reactions may show up in many ways: shock, sadness, anger, numbness, difficulty sleeping, or trouble concentrating. These responses are normal after traumatic events.

Mental Health Tip:
If you are feeling overwhelmed, try grounding yourself in the present moment. One simple technique is the 5-4-3-2-1 exercise: • Name 5 things you can see
• 4 things you can feel
• 3 things you can hear
• 2 things you can smell
• 1 thing you can taste

This can help calm your nervous system when anxiety or intrusive thoughts rise.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out for support. Connection matters in moments like these. Checking in on one another, limiting repeated exposure to distressing news coverage, and allowing space to process emotions are powerful first steps.
