Amazing HEARTSafe Community story ❀️

Dan Pritchard, a volunteer at the NCAA track championships, went into cardiac arrest Saturday at the meet. His wife saw the emergency happening from the stands, as did thousands of fans. Pritchard received immediate attention from medics on site and was released from the hospital Monday.

Incredible commitment and collaboration in our HEARTSafe Community β€οΈπŸš”πŸš‘πŸ₯ Thank you to everyone for your part in this story 🌟

Tuesday, two Eugene Police Officers had the chance to reunite with the woman whose life they helped save. Last month, she collapsed at home, and the officers, first on scene, performed CPR and used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to revive her before medics arrived.

Now on the road to recovery, she wanted to personally thank the officers who stepped in during her time of need. The heartfelt meeting took place at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she expressed her gratitude for their quick action.

This reunion was a powerful reminder that early CPR and AED use save lives and anyone can learn these skills.

The Eugene Police Foundation and PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation partnered to purchase the AED units, which are compatible with Eugene Springfield Fire’s advanced life support devices.
