White Bird Clinic

Comments

White Bird Dental is offering walk in clinics again! Every Monday and Wednesday morning at 7:30 am at our 1415 Pearl Street location. Please bring ID and proof of income if possible. Your Trillium/Pacific Source OHP will cover the cost of walk-in Dental service.

Our dental clinic offers emergency, preventative, and restorative dental care to people who may be uninsured, underinsured, low income or homeless, and may otherwise go without care. Services provided include: filling, crowns, endodontics, extractions, periodonture, bridges, prophylaxis, application of fluoride and sealants and oral health education. We accept OHP/Trillium/Pacific Source and private dental insurance. Uninsured patients are charged on a sliding scale based on income. We partner with the Arizona School of Oral Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University, and Lane Community College to provide low-cost care. Hablamos Español.

Too many unhoused and low-income community members need dental care that they cannot access. White Bird Dental has responded by building a larger clinic that increases capacity by over seventy percent and accommodates twelve dental chairs. The new facility makes it easier for community members suffering from dental pain to get immediate, walk-in access to a dentist, and also allow White Bird to serve more elderly patients, children, and families.

White Bird has invested $2.5M to develop a state-of-the-art facility that provides acute and preventative oral health care to our community’s most vulnerable residents. The clinic’s design features the latest innovations in modern dentistry in a bright, airy space. The facility lets patients know that they are valued members of the community who deserve excellence in health.

If you do not have a mask, Don’t worry we have one for you 😊. OHP will cover the cost of the tele dentistry and of most all dental visits. Those without insurance will be charged on a sliding scale and encouraged to sign up for OHP at ONE.Oregon.gov or given an appointment with our benefit assisters. Please bring proof of income and photo identification.
“The idea of looking toward Medicaid for help funding unarmed crisis response teams began in Lane County just a few years ago. PacificSource has had a similar contract with CAHOOTS for years. Previously, CAHOOTS was only funded by Lane County and police departments.”

Black Thistle Street Aid IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Clinic will no longer be held weekly as it has been for over a year and a half.

Wednesday clinic at WJ is an important part of the work we do, and we don't want it to end! To honor our team's realistic capacities and prevent burnout, we have made the decision to switch to clinic every other week, the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month (which sounds confusing, but we'll do our best to alert you when the week arrives!).

The Wednesdays that we are Not hosting clinic, we will be on outreach providing direct medical care to the many encampments around town, where the need is ever-growing as the City slowly/not so slowly disbands WJ and 13th & Chambers sites. Other outreach support will continue throughout the week as-needed as we have been doing. We will continue our main focus of medical, herbal and harm reduction support.

Cutting back clinic feels huge, and it was not an easy decision, but as a team, this will allow us to focus on building something sustainable rather than constantly putting out fires. We have hopes that we can go back to providing a weekly clinic once many foundational pieces are addressed that we have had to push aside out of necessity and urgency the past year or so.

Thank you for your understanding & continued support of the work we do!

CLINICS IN JANUARY:
Wednesday, January 12th
Wednesday, January 26th
**We will be providing outreach/roving clinic to WJ this Wednesday to inform people of our new schedule.**

The show will soon be available on our website for listening any time. Stay tuned for more updates!

Over the last three years, Front Rooms has undergone a period of change and growth. During the pandemic, many essential services for the unhoused and/or underserved in Eugene indefinitely shut down. We adapted to the changing and increasing needs of our clients by evolving (from a day-access center) into a bustling distribution site for harm-reduction supplies and other essential resources that are hard to find anywhere else in town.

There are more changes in store for Front Rooms. White Bird will be opening a new harm reduction hub/day access center soon, and the original building that Front Rooms operates from is due for a remodel. With these changes on our horizon, Front Rooms has engaged in a comprehensive client-centered needs assessment; our hope is to determine exactly what our clients need the most from us as we grow, in their own words. For the last few months, our incredible intern, Lincoln, has been facilitating in-depth interviews with the folks who use our services. The data he has compiled has been instrumental in informing how we move forward as a department of White Bird. HUGE PROPS TO LINCOLN and a big 'thank you' to all the clients who have participated!!❤️

At White Bird Clinic the Front Rooms department serves as the main resource distribution center and as information and referrals to other programs. We are seeking donations to help keep our community members dry, warm and healthy. The incessant downpour of rain combined with cold temperatures presents many health risks for already at risk and vulnerable community members.

Many are sleeping outdoors, spending many hours of the day outside and/or cannot afford new shoes or proper clothing for these cold rainy times. This can make it incredibly challenging and, in some cases, impossible to stay dry and get warm. This can lead to lower immunity overall, increasing risk to a variety of different viruses and common ailments. In more serious cases an inability to combat these issues can lead to pneumonia and hypothermia. Trench foot is also a common health risk that can be easily prevented by simply having proper clothing.

White Bird Medical is a resource for when people do need medical attention, acquiring gear and warming centers do exist such as Egan Warming Center when they open on especially cold nights; But, staying dry is the first line of defense and having proper gear is the best way to do that. Other organizations also exist to try to provide needed survival items and offer medical resources such as C.O.R.E and Black Thistle Medical Aid.

Please help us get ahead of these ailments. We would love to take any boots, coats and waterproof clothing you may have that you are not using and get it into the hands of people who need it most. Drop off donations to 341 E 12th Ave. We are open every day 9:30am-12:45pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm. On Wednesdays we close at 3.
