🌾 Under Demeter’s Harvest Moon 🌙
Tonight the moon swells full and bright — a silver lantern hung high above fields already bending with the last sheaves of grain. On October 6th, this “Harvest Moon” marks not only the culmination of growth, but the threshold into shadow. In Demeter’s great myth, she is the mother of all seasons — she brings forth the bounty, mourns the descent, and invites renewal even in the fall.
Under her gaze, the golden fields she once nurtured now ripple in twilight, reminding us that abundance always carries the seeds of letting go. Like Demeter when Persephone was lost to the underworld, this moon asks us to gather what is ripe, to give thanks, and to prepare for what must rest beneath the earth.
This night, Demeter’s light encourages us to lean into gratitude for the fruit of our labor — the projects we’ve grown, the love we’ve tended, the lessons we’ve harvested. And then to release with grace: old pains, regrets, expectations unfulfilled. As the moon wanes, the Earth must sleep. And when it rises again, new growth will rise with it.
So tonight, under that luminous harvest glow, may we sit in Demeter’s arms. May we celebrate what is full. May we sow our intentions for renewal. And may we trust that even in descent, life is held, and the cycle continues.
