Vitamin E - are your horses getting it?
Horses cannot make their own Vitamin E! It must be supplied in their diet π
The published daily minimum requirement for horses is 1,000 IU. For broodmares it's 2,000 IU. Performance horses probably need closer to 8-10,000 IU ππ²
Why is it so important?
*Immune response/strength
*Antioxidant activity
*Skin integrity
*Neurological support (EPM for example)
*Exercise recovery/soreness prevention
*Muscle mass maintenance
*In broodmares, increases passive transfer of immunoglobulins to foals in colostrum and enhances immune function of foals
β If you'd like help deciphering your feed/supplement ingredients, I will be glad to help, just send me pictures of the labels. Hint: if it's a synthetic form of Vitamin E, then it won't be nearly as bioavailable as the natural form.
